St.Joseph's does it but you have to be a particular height, according to my surgeon. He said I was too tall (5'7) for it.

Lutfi doesn't do it anymore. Said it has higher chance of oncisional hernia than the approach with 5 incisions

It might also have to do with the fact that his instrumentation is getting fixed in Japan he said.

I'm going to go to the Kane Center seminar this morning and ask the doctors if they will do it. If they do, going with them. I just don't want the extra scars ????. And even though it's reaching, I'd love to b in a bikini again someday

My surgeon is Dr. Tiesenga, he was the one who stated that to me.

Hello all. My gastric sleeve was done 6/12/14 at UofC, with Dr..Alverty. Other than driving there from the northwest suburbs, I have been very happy with UofC. They have an open support group meeting first Tuesday of the month at 1 PM. I am looking for possibly a mentor or a more frequent support group.

Greetings Chicago and surrounding suburbanites! (I'm totally a lurker on this thread so apologies for no formal introduction!)

Mariano's has Premier Protein shakes on sale for $3.99 chocolate or vanilla. I went in there today at lunch (because I work by the one in the West Loop) and was pleasantly surprised at this cost savings. Not sure how long they are on sale but stock up!

I have an entire case of chocolate Premier Protein that I bought at costco last month. I had one and didn't like it. If anyone wants it and wants to drive to arlington heights to pick up, you can have it!

Is anyone interested in getting together for a clothing exchange in the Chicago area? I have lots of 30/28/26 size clothes ready to go.

I too have a good amount of clothing in the 32/30 & 26/28 size ranges. I would be happy to sell these or do a swap.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
