Cramping on the left side

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery 2-24-14 and I keep getting cramping on my left side as if I ran a mile... Anyone else experiencing this? And if so why?

I had that also. Not sure what it was. Gas?? But I had a drain in that spot also. Once I had the drain out, I haven't had them since.

I have read that many surgeons pull the stomach out of this area and the incision is slighty larger and that is why that pain happens. My stomach was pulled from the belly button hole so I think my "stitch" was from the drain.

I had my sleeve on 2/3/14 and I get this same pain. It feels like I've got a running cramp. It goes away when I lie down, but comes back as soon as I get it. It gets worse when I bend over. Idk what it is, but I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I had the same thing. My dr said that is where he removed the stomach. I feel it still sometimes if I'm more active.

I had the gastric sleeve on 2/3/14.. I am getting the same pain as you are..My doctor also said that is where your stomach was worked on and that it is healing..You feel like a knife is jabbing into your left side.Im glad im not the only one too.But i have to admit my bellybutton area is extremely very sore and can not wear jeans yet.

There is a deep internal suture there that is healing. Sometimes the pain can take your breath away it'll be so sudden and sharp. I'm 2 weeks out and it does get better. Take it easy on bending.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
