Summertime with the band

Recommended Posts

going through different threads in the forum, i see alot of posts suggesting that you have keep comsumption of liquids to a minimal. if this is true or is the case, do any of you bandsters find summertime to be difficult for the fact that you are more likely to get dehydrated? i am a big Water drinker myself and now that the twmp is rising, i'll probably be drinking a lot more. is dis something to be worried about? could you hurt yourslef over-drinking?

You can drink as much non-caloric liquid as you want. In fact, it's very important to keep hydrated, as this helps with weight loss. It's liquid CALORIES we're supposed to avoid, not liquid itself. And you should avoid drinking right after meals.

So drink up!

I drink tons of Water (and other things)! I always stop drinking about 1/2 hour before a meal though.

As long as you haven't just eaten a meal, liquids go through easy, Sasha. That's why they say to be careful of high calorie drinks like juice and wine.

:o

cool. i thought drinking a lot of Water would be hard because of the new littler space in the stomach.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
