What's with my heart rate/BP?!?

Recommended Posts

Before surgery, walking HR was a nice calm 120-125, very consistent. Now it's 135-140. My BP was 125/75. Now it's like 140/85. WTF.

(3 weeks post-surg, 50 lbs down since liver reduction)

I've never heard this before.. reduction in blood pressure is mostly comman after having surgery, but High BP can be find in People with more obesity.

They have more risk to heart diesase.

Definitely I'm very obese and maybe my heart's working as hard as it used to but now it doesn't have to work so hard? But I'm not loving it.

I have AFib, and I know for me, after I get restored to regular, sinus heart rate, it takes a few weeks for my BP to go back down to normal. I am wondering if your body is responding to the trauma of surgery. Either way, I hope your doc. can shed some light on it for you! Good luck!

Surgeon's Ofc called back and said go see my PCP. I'll go later today.

Ummm... a heart rate of 120-125 isn't the greatest to begin with. It's definitely something you want to talk to your doctor about. Your heart rate should be between 60-100 beats per minute. Your BP is a little high but not that high. I think it will come down if you get your heart rate controlled. Do you feel weird or is it something you just noticed? It's more important to see your doctor if you feel weird or if you feel like your heart is pounding out of your chest.

My *walking* HR - as in, doing low-impact but consistent exercise, i.e. walking - was 120-125. My HR at rest is about 80.

And yes I feel weird and different. My heart pounds like I was just startled... All the time. Now it might be a cortisol thing, but either way it's gotta go.

Surgeon's office told me to see my PCP so I'll do that.
