melissabeauty 10 Posted February 28, 2014 I have been nauseated since my surgery jan. 16, I feel like I have a rock stuck at the base of my throat and another inside my stomach. I don't know what to do. If I eat or drink anything, even Water, it hurts. They have done a ct scan and everything looks fine internally. Does anybody have any ideas? bloreorbust 286 Posted February 28, 2014 Tell your surgeon you're still having this issue. Sometimes it takes more looking to find out what is wrong. Maybe you need to be scoped. Other than that, try warm liquids and warm mushy foods. Perhaps the warmth will help sooth your throat and pouch and make it easier. Also, when I was that new if I didn't take very very small sips and bites, I haf significant pain. That has gone away as I healed.
reinangel 78 Posted February 28, 2014 Eat slower and smaller bites. and talk to your dr about maybe taking some omeprazole(prevacid). It helped me.. and start your day with a warm drink. Also, try flavoring your Water with something.. anthing except plain. I am 20 weeks out and still cant tolerate plain water yet. You'll get there.. hang tough! schoollass 11 Posted May 3, 2014 I agree. I have to have warm drinks. I'm ten years out and still put my Protein in my coffee every morning. Like Creamer. When I went from putting cold liquid Protein into my hot coffee to the powdered creamer, I actually had to figure out just how much cold Water I had to add or my Protein would curdle because my coffee was too hot and it is made from milk after all. *laughing* I would get chunky protein peices which was nasty. Anyway, drink warm liquids slowly and it helps alot. I still do hot tea, hot lemon Water, warm protein, etc. Hope this helps.

melissabeauty 10 Posted February 16, 2015 (edited) Update... 1 year out and things are much better. It was an ulcer followed by 2 more. I switched to only drinking milk for almost 6 months and now I can drink Vitamin waters. Thank you ladies. Edited February 16, 2015 by melissabeauty

Escher 0 Posted March 1, 2017 I had this problem. Even the smell of food made me gag and throw up (or what passes for throwing up). Was put in hospital and everything checked out ok. My surgeon told me it was mental and to force myself to eat. I did and gradually got over it. Did find that very small bites helped. Good luck.
