I didn't tell my coworkers I had WLS. I've had comments that I look good, that they've noticed I lost weight or that classic Southern comment "You look well rested."

My favorite was today: Somebody just told me to be careful because I'm loosing weight too fast!

I assured him I am working with a nutritionist.

I didn't tell anyone at work either and when I get those type of comments I just say " I feel wonderful, thanks!" :D

:) I'm the same -- never told coworkers about surgery, and when they compliment me I say thanks I'm working really hard. The weirdest thing I had was a few weeks ago an older and more senior coworker (female) said "So what size do you wear now?"

I was so flabbergasted I think I made a face at her :/ and THEN she started guessing my pant size. And no, this was certainly never a topic of conversation with me and my coworkers at my higher weights! omg! So funny!

I was polite but I walked the hell out of the room. It's hilarious to me that she thought that would be up for discussion! I know she didn't mean any harm, and she is a very grandmotherly type, but come ON. Totally. Inappropriate! LOL

My boss is constantly telling me "you are losing so much weight Ive noticed you eating healthier but the weight is just dropping too quick" she tried to trick me she asked me one day as I was leaving "so besides your hernial repair you got the gastric bypass right m" I wanted to yell and say noooo the sleeve but I just corrected her and told her I never said I got wls. Which I did get a hernia repair but she is so critical so I don't care to tell her that I did get the gastric sleeve. She is very annoying.

I like your response. On Friday, someone at work asked me flat out if I had WLS and I told the truth - but wished I hadn't because it will be all over the office now and I'm hoping there won't be a lot of comments.

Hopefully there won't be a lot of comments. I don't mind telling people that I know are not going to be judgmental and make dumb comments, that's why I've told only told selected people but at work no one knows and I plan to keep it that way.

I'm still in the process of getting my surgery approved, but I've told several people at work and none of them said anything negative.. its good to have as much support as possible. Plus, i am way past the point where i care what people think anymore.

The only people that know I am getting this is my son and husband.

I've discussed having the surgery with a close friend but she doesn't even know I'm getting sleeved on April 11th.

I am not telling anyone at work..these people can be so freaking nosey about others personal lives.

I just took PTO for 8 days and leaving it at that...when they start asking "duh, how you losing the weight" I plan on saying I'm on medifast & leave a couple of packets on my desk for the mosey as@&s!

I work part-time mostly from home but am in the office once or twice a month. I told my boss and a few work friends before. They sent me flowers! After surgery, I pretty much told everyone on Fb because people were worries something was really wrong with me. I have had tons of positive comments and Lord of support, and not one single negative comment. I explained I'm doing this so I can stay healthy and avoid the diabetes and heart disease that run in my family, so I can be here for my husband and kids. It was no secret I was (am still technically ... only 10 days out, lol) obese ... so I figured why keep my solution to the problem a secret? I have actually has a half-dozen people approach me privately and say they're interested in having it done too.

I work in a hospital and check in patients for surgery. I love to meet patients of my surgeon before they go to surgery. I always show them before pictures and they can never believe it. We have to weigh everyone day of surgery and I love to tell them "are you ready to never see this number again?" Gets them all so excited. Needless to say I tell everyone that's interested. Several people have approached me about it and it makes me feel good to help and encourage somebody. There will always be negativity but the good will always outweigh the bad.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
