Hi guys, so my surgery is. Scheduled for march 3 at 11. I'm having my lapband removed then having the sleeve. I'm excited and Nervous. My Doc doesn't make us go on a pre op diet. Thank god cause I'm in a wedding sat. But I can only have liquids on sun. I was wondering if anyone is in Michigan having the sleeve next week? Looking for a buddy. Does anyone have any Advice for me for after surgery next week??? Thanks everyone

excited and Nervous. . wedding sat. Advice for me for after surgery next week???

Amy

surgery in 4 days????

its perfectly normal to be dealing with different emotions :)

post op........

you just had major surgery - take it slow!!!!!

if you have gas, walk and walk some more in the hospitaal

sip Water sllllowly

at home, rest as much as you can

if you have kids, tell them to go run around the block for one week

going to stand up in a wedding a few days post op :o

some people feel fine in a few days, even go back to work :)

hopefully you will be feeling ok :)

drink only liquids

no champagne though :(

docs usually tell you to wait "at least" a few weeks - or maybe up to 6 months before alcohol is allowed

the one thing we have in common is that we're/docs-NUTS are all different

always listen to YOUR doc/NUT

good luck :)

speedy recovery :)

kathy

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
