sherri428 9 Posted February 27, 2014 Hi, I'm 6 weeks out from my RNY. I'm having no problem with liquids, Soups, yogurts, Protein chips, etc. Basically anything that I don't have to chew or that will disintegrate in my stomach. I'm trying to introduce certain foods that I can cut with a fork. I'm finding I can only eat little bitty pieces and I have to chew to the point of making it a liquid or it gets stuck. This may be normal but I'm just wondering. I would live off the soups and yogurts but they don't satisfy me like eggs, tuna, etc and I find myself grazing. My nutritionist told me I needed to eat things with more substance but they make me miserable.
pookybear 284 Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) How you're eating it is pretty much correct. You need to chew to the consistency of applesauce. Red meats and chicken breast are harder because they're a lot more dry and stringy. Try ground turkey with low sugar marinara sauce, or moist tuna or canned chicken with low fat mayo. You need substance, but it'll go down much better if it's moist and easier to chew. Edited February 27, 2014 by pookybear 1 DLCoggin reacted to this
Curvy4lyfe 3 Posted February 27, 2014 I know how you feel!! Taking in enough Protein was a real struggle at 6 weeks. Now that I'm a whole 11 weeks out my problem is eating too much fatty food but back to your issue. Try eating puréed boiled ham or pork with seasonings, refried Beans or even pinto Beans. I bought a Mr. coffee cup warmer and would put my 2-3 ozs of mushy meat in a mug a eat it for an hour. Just think super soft and extra juicy. Good luck and be blessed! BBdoodle 483 Posted February 28, 2014 I am the same way, I have a horrible time with meat (beef, pork, chicken, tuna). I will be 2 yrs post op in April and have been that way since surgery. Its strange because I can eat corned beef with no problem - go figure!!! I do drink a Protein shake daily!!!
