You will find that you do not go as much as you did before. Your not taking in the amount of food that you used to. The body uses the food thoroughly now, So it is not that we are not eating enough or drinking enough Water. One thing is that we are not used to how little we have to go.

You know the feeling of constipation...A discomfort in the intestines and stomach as well. A pressure there as well. Most people who are on an Iron supplement also suffer from Constipation.

Myself I take a light laxative called Senokot S. I find it is gentle and effective.

Now that I can eat solids and have for a long time I eat Raisin Bran every day and that seems to really help as well.

Some people take milk of Magnesia as well for constipation.

I find a 1/2 c of bran flakes with lactose free milk is doing the trick for me.....:)

The high amount of Protein can create Constipation. Also, you may need a boost of Fiber in your diet since we don't absorb everything anymore.

Constipation can also mean you're still not getting enough liquids, even with the larger amount that we drink.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
