katt1584 46 Posted February 27, 2014 Hi guys, I'm needing some encouragement. I had surgery on February 12th and was out of the hospital in two days. I was readmitted to the hospital on Saturday because everything I swallowed caused nausea-so I had stopped drinking. I was dehydrated when I got to the hospital and they had me do a swallow test-which showed that my liquid was getting stopped up by my diaphragm and also while entering my stomach. I was on fluids in the hospital for 2 days and released home with a picc line for at home infusions of TPN. I had a lot of anxiety about doing at home infusions. My home health nurse discovered my picc line was clogged because she could not flush it..it was also causing me pressure on my chest. My doctor had her pull the picc line out a little bit which really didn't help any. Today I took some anti nausea medication and not 10 minutes later experienced intense nausea. I was dry heaving for 45 minutes and my doctors office just kept transferring us to voicemail. Finally called my very helpful home health nurse who called and told the office they needed to call me back. Finally the physician assistant called and said she was going to prescribe an anti anxiety medication. This made me so upset. I do suffer from bad anxiety but I feel like they are not taking me seriously because of it. Like trying to get a hold of them was such an inconvience. They didnt address the stomach pain and said as long as 1 line of my picc is working they are going to leave it in. Dry heaving for 45 minutes made me exhausted and caused a lot of stomach pain. Tonight I was able to eat a popsicle but I feel a lot of pressure when I swallow. It doesn't go down smoothly. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. It's so uncomfortable to swallow and this picc line makes me nervous and it hurts. I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel right now and I'm really discouraged

CurvyCakes 269 Posted February 27, 2014 Katt darling I'm so sorry to hear ur having such a ruff time. I was placed on anxiety meds about 7 months ago and I promise u I felt at times when I would share a concern with my PCP I felt she didn't kick into action as she did prior to treatment for anxiety. Being the straight forward shooter from the hip I am I called her to the carpet on this as I know it can go from 0-60 in a flash but I'm far from a hypochondriac. She apologized and got her act together but I've been her patient for 12 years. With all that said honey maybe u can call and schedule an appointment to be seen by ur surgeon and go over ur concerns face to and let him or her know ur concerned with how an anxiety med was prescribed but the dry heaving for 45 minutes and ur stomach pain wasn't adequately addressed and that these r real concerns! I would ice the cake some with I choose u because I felt u were a great surgeon I could trust to do my surgery and provide quality care post operatively. I speak to ALLLLL my doctors quite frankly, at times sternly ( as I'm my biggest advocate here) yet respectfully.
