babbles Wow, you are doing so good! Your progress is inspiring. I have only been banded about 2 months. You are there! How often did you see your doctor after your fill that brought you to the right spot? I have not talked about follow ups that long out and life time fills. shoot, I have not had my first fill yet!! So, I am probably not the best to give advise on your situation, but wanted to give you some koodos and encouragment...good luck!

I was banded in May of this year. I have had one fill and can't see where it is helping me at all. I can eat and eat and eat. I know will power has to play into the equation, but why do I not feel restricted??

I am going through I really ruff time. I certainly agree when it comes to eating junk is easier. I got so tired of trying to eat different things...good things I mean and of course puking them up. So I turned to easy things like Ice Cream. I can eat it with no problems. I do eat they low fat kind, but now I am so use to eating mostly Ice Cream that I can not seem to break the habit. I know I have go to stop this but it is just so much easier to eat. I am one year out and just below my goal weight. I do pretty good a maintaining even eating ice cream. I am going for a fill in the next few weeks. Trying to set up a appt now. I hope this helps me get back on track soon. I have done so good and I do not want to mess it up.

Babble, Hang in there. I am in the same boat as you are. Ice cream has become my best friend. I am soooo sick of puking up everything. Sliming can happen to me after one well chewed bite, especially in the morning. I don't really get loose enough to eat well until evening and I am generally always hungry, and yes, I do follow all the bandster rules. One thing came to my mind and that was to ask if you are taking your Vitamins? Also, perhaps a fill is not warranted at this time? Good luck and God bless. I have come to the conclusion that the band may not be for me. It really has done nothing for my appetite. Sighhhhh. Obviously, you were successful at one time. Do you know why or how that changed?

I think it may be the sugar in some of these foods, which make them go down easy. If you're having trouble with the right foods going down, don't get in the habit of fooling your band with these foods. You might need an adjustment -- it's all very tricky. Should be the other way around, but I also think that Proteins are supposed to make your body work harder -- they take longer to digest, you need to eat slower, and once you're able to digest them, you're fuller. Just my guess!

Im curious? How many of you out there experience eating candy, aka(chocolate) icecream, Soup, thin crust pizza or anything endrenched in sauces is the easiest things you can eat? Protiens like chicken, beef, bread- one bite and Im a gonner.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
