My name is Jennifer, and I am new to this. I have struggled with weight issues my whole life. Upon hearing about Lapband, I decided to go online and see how it was working for others. Although I was very hesitate about having any type of surgery, yall's heartfelt success stories encouraged me to take the next step. My surgery is next week! I'm overwhelmed with nervousness, but mostly excitement! Just wanted to say thank you ladies and gentleman for sharing your stories, Each and every one of you are my role models :)

Just stopping by to say don't be nervous, as we have all went though that and you have been doing your research and reading some of our post , so I just know I made the right decision for me to get banded and be healthy, just remember it is not easy as some people may think and follow your Docs. orders and instructions and you will be fine and do good, so welcome to band land and the start of a new journey in life.

Welcome to the family! You have landed amongst very knowledgable and friendly people. Everyone will be here to support you along the way.

Having the surgery was the single best decision I've ever made for myself. No regrets! It's not all roses and butterflies, but the struggles are worth it. Take deep breaths when the nerves start kicking in. It will be OK. Remind yourself of all the positive changes in your life that start now and will continue going forward.

Number one rule....follow your doctor's orders and ask questions of them! We are here to offer the encouragement and the support...the doctor has the medical advice.

I'm excited for you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
