I was banded 8/16/04 by Dr. Abkin in Morristown, NJ. So far, I have lost 19 pounds. I just started eating solid foods and have had no problems so far. In reading other posts, I saw the term PB and do not know what it means. Can someone tell me? Thanks

it stands for productive burp, like when you cough or burp some of your food comes back up, kind of like throwing up, but not. When you do it you will know exactly what it is....

Hi Deb,

Welcome to Bandland. PB means productive burp. If you don't chew something well enough or eat too much too fast you may get something stuck....you will know it, I have only done it 2 times and felt like I was having a heart attack, gurgling in my throat, pains in my back below my shoulders...after a few minutes I went to the bathroom and leaned over the sink and worked a burp out and some "slime" (mucous) came out and I felt lots better. But some people actually burp up chunks of food, there fore pb.....I was just banded August 9th, don't know how many pounds lost, but since 6/19 I've lost 12 1/2 inches and 2 sizes of jeans....

Chat with you soon,

Nancy

Welcome Deb,

Glad to hear your surgery went fine and your healing is good. Uneventful is very good... I think the prior girls explained the P.B. part so I just wanted to say hello and offer any support if you ever need any. Best wishes, Teresa

Hi Deb, from a fellow Abkin patient!! I hope you'll be going to the support group meetings--they're really great and I try never to miss one. They're held the last Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the doctors' offices (in the meeting room down the left-hand hallway). So the next one is on the 29th.

Sounds like you're doing great! Congratulations on being banded and graduating on to real food. See you in two weeks, I hope!! :)

Slenderella's description is right on. Believe me, you will know it when you have it. Feels like a tennis ball lodged under your sternum.

I had read about PBs and thought I would be able to avoid them. Ha. My first one hit a couple of days ago while I was walking the dog, after eating some oily tuna. The urge to spit up came suddenly and uncontrollably. Luckily I always carry extra plastic bags!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
