Hi! I am new to the forum, and wanted to share. I started puree this week and tried the Beans with lowfat cheese, noodle Soup, smashed potatoes, carrots, and my stomach is not taking it. I had experience the dumping syndrom. (vomit) is it the same thing? I am going back to shakes for now, and am trying light yoplait yogurt and it seems to come down easily. I was thinking of trying other foods, but i am thinking I am hurting my self by vomitting. How much longer should i wait to try some food again. Thank you, Angie1409

Oh man, I tried mashed cauliflower in my pureed phase and thought someone was trying to pull my ribs out of my chest. I am at two months now, and I am not eating cauliflower for a long time. I did best with yogurt, eggs, and pureed Soups....everyone's tolerances are so different. A lot of people cannot go back to eggs, but they are my "go to".

Try and stay away from butter and cheese and sugar. All of these things are triggers for dumping syndrome (which is full evacuation of your bowels at the speed of light). They also can stimulate over-production of saliva, which can make your stomach feel gripey and lead to the slimes (over-production of white sputum) and vomit.

Keep things clean, unprocessed and light on the seasoning.

Tastes like badgers arse and will drive you to distraction at the end of the phase, but its better that than heaving.

For now give your stomach a rest.. Maybe two days of blandsville (plain yoghurt/protein shakes (if you can take the artificial sweetener) and very basic bland Soups.< /p>

From here, you can take a very small mouthful of something. Mull it around. Leave it. Let your stomach talk to you and see if you can take a wee bit more.

Trial and error. Try not to worry, you'll get there :)

I lived on refried Beans and chicken broth for several weeks but didn't really have any trouble. Have you tried egg drop Soup?

Full evacuation of your bowels at the speed of light. I will find a way to work that into a conversation if it kills me!

I just started the puree diet too. I bought a rottissere chicken and purrred a small amount of chicken with a little broth and some cooked butternut squash.( I added a little butter - sue me.) It tasted like a thanksgiving dinner! I picked up the Weight Loss Surgery recipes 'for dummies' book. Great recipes.

cheese doesn't bother me at all. I've eaten refried Beans and cheese several times.

Scrambled eggs, Greek yogurt and strained Soups worked well for me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
