mickally 95 Posted February 28, 2014 McButterpants I have been missing my signals too the past couple weeks and having the poke feeling in my tummy. It feels like the edge of a cracker is poking me. I have been worried. Is this what you have experienced?
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted February 28, 2014 Lipsticklady, Yum I will try those suggestions. I can't have Beans, not tolerating them at all. My NUT said today actually that 1/2 cup cooked scrambled eggs is appropriate at this time and it doesn't feel like too much, so I will go with that Good to hear! Like I said. I am only an expert on me! Always follow your NuT and surgeon first.

Escape_Pod 358 Posted February 28, 2014 Keep in mind that when you were sleeved, many of the nerve endings in your stomach were cut, so your "feelings" aren't very reliable right now. And, it takes some time to convince yourself that you're really going to be ok if you eat 1/4 cup of scrambled egg and stop. I had the hardest time getting over that mental hurdle that "if I don't eat more than this I'm going to be hungry again in 30 minutes!" If you ARE "hungry" again in 30 minutes, this early out it's head hunger (or stomach acid!). Measure, eat conservatively, and then stop. After 45 minutes, start the liquids again. Also, nothing pureed or really soft is going to make you feel the restriction of your sleeve like dense Protein will. No, you can't eat it yet, but when you do, you'll have a much better connection to what "full" feels like. Until then, measure, eat SMALL bites very slowly, pause in between, and stop as soon as you begin to feel satisfied. This is the hardest stage - it will begin to click for you better when you get to more solid foods. Until then, honestly, you're not eating for sustenance - 2-3 tablespoons of food is NOT going to meet your nutritional needs. Your body is relying on the Protein shakes, and Vitamins, and your fat stores for now, and that's just fine for awhile. In the early weeks you're retraining your stomach on how to digest food. You put it through some major trauma - think of it like a newborn - it's not ready for much yet. 3 chicagirl, Blondiee and Bufflehead reacted to this
newlysleeved 4 Posted February 28, 2014 So I'm only eating when I get hungry, but sometimes I feel so hungry, that after2-3 bites of egg say, my stomach still feels hungry, so I keep eating, waiting to get satisfied, but I have missed satisfied s a few times and hit too full. Tonight, I had scrambled eggs with melted cheese, about 1cup, but by the time I finished them, I still felt hungry, so I had a few too many bites of potatoes and hit the pukey feeling. Help!! At what point do you stop eating? Ho often do you et throughout the day? I feel limited t this point bc I'm only on oureeds, not much variety....can't do refried bens, can't tolerate them t this point I had this exact same problem. I thought there was something wrong with my sleeve. I thought that my surgeon didn't take as much out as I would have expected. I am not sure how many days/weeks you are post- op. But I think it has something to do with the brain thinking your still hungry when your really not. I am 3 weeks post-op and that feeling is almost gone. Now I can tell most of the time when I have had enough. Just remember to eat slow.
gmanbat 5,889 Posted February 28, 2014 (edited) Squats will not make your butt smaller. In fact, if anything they will make it bigger and better shaped. Spot reduction is a myth. Working leg and butt muscles is a key to overall strength and losing fat.To those who say putting on muscle makes you stop losing weight, maybe, but it does not make you stop losing fat. It makes you better able to get rid of fat and keep it off. Don't worry about being too muscular!Serve your body, not your scale! edit: Some natural bodybuilders, no steroids, figure division. You have to work real hard in workouts and dieting to even look this muscular. In shape ladies look better. Work it, ladies! McButterpants 2,846 Posted February 28, 2014 McButterpants I have been missing my signals too the past couple weeks and having the poke feeling in my tummy. It feels like the edge of a cracker is poking me. I have been worried. Is this what you have experienced? The poke I feel is in the middle of my midsection, a little off to the left. It's like someone is poking me their finger there. (I say it's my brain saying, "Hey you, stop eating or you're going to feel like crap in a few minutes!" It doesn't hurt, it's just a sensation. Hope this helps.

BigGirlPanties 957 Posted February 28, 2014 Helpful info...I will try that app! As for potatoes...try cauliflower instead...cook it up really soft and smash it ... it will be almost like mashed potatoes, but much healthier. Once you get to solids, you can make a pizza with smashed cauliflower and eggs for the crust. I was also going to suggest ricotta...the World According to Eggface has some great recipes... You really need to mix it up a bit...good luck! 2 Theresa Corl and catnapper reacted to this

Theresa Corl 2 Posted March 1, 2014 Wow I had my sleeve November 22 and had no problem getting my Water in or anything right outta the "gate". I have lost only 20 lbs and feel so discouraged. I had the lapband previously and that was a disaster! I am not getting much exercise so that is not good. I am pretty depressed these days which doesn't help...just don't know what to do!!! Thanks to everyone who posted it is helpful! I sure know that "bite to much feeling"!!!

Thanks to everyone who posted it is helpful! I sure know that "bite to much feeling"!!! You could be fighting a metabolism slowdown due to the lap band problems. You can heal it with exercise, Water, and proper eating. Stress definitely slows down fat loss. By all means don't stress out about weight loss, you will lose it, don't defeat your purpose. And....WELCOME Theresa! 1 Theresa Corl reacted to this
GriffinSabine 34 Posted March 1, 2014 Hi OP, you and I were sleeved the same day, February 3. My suggestion is to continue trying different foods and see what you can tolerate. My NUT advanced me to regular solids now, provided I am 100% compliant with not drinking before or after, chewing 20 times, and pacing myself between bites. That has not been an issue. I felt that horrible "brick" stuck in my chest feeling, as well as a dumping episode, early on and VERY quickly learned to not let it happen again. In fact, I'm glad I experienced it because it is a VERY strong motivator to comply and eat properly so it doesn't happen again. I lost 10 my first week, none my second week, and 5 so far this week. I am on track. I'm swimming a half mile a day, walking a half mile to a mile a day. I was active before so this is easier. My #1 focus is Protein and Water. I had low carbed for 12 years prior to VSG so I absolutely know what works in terms of diet. Beans won't help you lose weight so I wouldn't even bother with them unless it's for taste (I love beans). eggs are great. I am eating almost a full cup at times of something like eggs or even chowders or very fine, tiny pieces of beef stew (meat and broth only) and have no issues. But if I eat a cup, I can eat almost nothing else the rest of the day. Make yourself get at least one good Protein shake or smoothie in every day. You can get 30g of Protein right there. I also add greek yogurt to mine, raw spinach, roasted beets, berries, avocado, anything worth adding for a nutritional blast. Sorry to ramble on. Please PM me if I can help in any way! 1 Theresa Corl reacted to this
