BookWorm 87 Posted February 26, 2014 I don't know about you all, but prior to surgery nobody knew my weight. Not my husband, not my kids, not my doctor (I refused to get on the scale when I went in, I just provided an estimate), not the state for my driver’s license (again a low estimate). My weight could have been considered a national security secret. Now, post surgery I find myself telling everyone how much I weigh. Have I reached my goal? Nope, but it doesn't stop me. People ask me all the time how much weight Ive lost and I respond back with my current weight. They look at me like, that's not what I asked you. Anyone else find themselves doing this? Is your weight no longer a national security secret? 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this

aNewTanya 109 Posted February 26, 2014 I'm still pre-op and can totally relate. I tell NO one my weight. My doctor knows but definitely no one else. I am waiting until I am about 60 lbs lighter before I reveal what my starting weight was. 1 gmanbat reacted to this

SoCalMomOfFour 36 Posted February 26, 2014 Oh yes, I haven't told a soul, not my husband, not my BFF, NOBODY! I am even hesitant to tell people how much I want to lose because I'm afraid they are going to do the math! I started an instagram account @runningmcfatty and thought I was flying under the radar, but then my real life friends started following me and I totally freaked out! My surgery is 4/11, so far I've lost 15lbs pre-op... but yeah, totally embarrassed about it all. 1 gmanbat reacted to this
ChavaBling 145 Posted February 26, 2014 Well, I'm walking that line right now. I do reveal my weight to some people..like fiancee, medical team (obvs), and one other group.... my closest friends who insist I "don't need" a surgical procedure. OK, once I tell them that I'm 5'1" and weight 276, they gasp, act concerned, and then possibly concede that maybe I do need medical intervention. Pre-op weight is embarassing and post-op weight is public? While it is obviously a personal decision, and people should definitely be proud of themselves for all of their hard work, I think my weight will probably not ever be something I discuss with "the general public", my extended family, or friends. Especially nosy coworkers! It's so personal. I mean, I've known people that have lost lots of weight, but I never had the gall to walk up to them and ask them how much they weigh (which is really what most people are trying to figure out with all of the other questions). 1 SoCalMomOfFour reacted to this
purplegerber 29 Posted February 26, 2014 The lovely folks at the hospital know my true weight!!! My family has no clue! When I get to my goal then I will gladly inform anyone of my weight. Oddly enough I have no problem informing people of how much I lost
