Slimband - Cut Off

Recommended Posts

As you are all likely to know, there's been a lot a backlash about Slimband in the past week or so, especially since Yau resigned.

As a TLBCer, I've been told that I'm no longer being supported by Slimband nor are they going to provide treatment in the future, for fills, defills, etc. I was told that they were looking to refer us to another clinic.

I sent an email to Slimband to request more information about this and in the past they have always been prompt with their responses but I have yet to hear back from them. I'm sure there's a lot of people concerned about what's going on but I'm confident that TLBCer's and/or Yau's patients are not their priority anymore. In fact, they have said that we (TLBCer's/Yau's patients) are no longer their responsibility.

So now that our surgeon is gone and our money has been cashed, we are being left out in the cold.

I feel completely lost, confused and hopeless.

Find another doctor. There are many that will take other lap band patients after their surgery. Just call around your area and see who will take you.

I highly doubt they would leave you high and dry. In fact it is probably illegal here in Canada. I think things will work out. They are probably a little up-side-down at the moment and may be experiencing a high volume of concerns. Don't worry :) . When were you banded?

Also, If you are not seeing replies to your posts concerning Slimband, I wanted to let you know that I have seen very few people from Canada here. The few that I have seen are all Smart Shape clients (like myself).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
