This time tomorrow...

Recommended Posts

So this is it. This time tomorrow I will hopefully be almost done with my surgery. I can't believe it's here already. I am not gonna lie...im totally freaking out. Not quite as much about the surgery, but def about the anesthesia. I have never been knocked out and I am kind of a control freak so I dont really like the idea of someone else having my life in their hands. Im scared that I will never wake up.

Ohhh sarahgirrl

Please don't worry so much. I have had two minor ops in the past, and I too am a control freak. I will say that both times the anaesthetists were so kind and reassuring that I felt able to hand over my care to them. Good luck and enjoy your new life

I felt the exact same way. Not being in control... I'm a control freak myself and I felt so vulnerable thinking of others having control over me while I was under. I have had about 6 surgeries and I can honestly tell you.. each and every time ( all the surgeries were different/different surgeons/different hospitals) being "put to sleep" for me has been like blinking. Didn't realize I was even under anesthesia or the procedures were finished until I was awaken by the staff on hand. My "sleeve" took almost 5 hours ( revision) but to me it was like I closed my eyes really quick and then reopened them. You will be just fine... it happens so quick ( being put to sleep) that you won't even realize you have gone to sleep until after you awake.

It was the same for me as One_More_Time has said. I don't remember being put under, they gave me a sedative in my IV, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up and the surgery was done! All was well. Don't worry about the anesthesia. It is the easiest part!

I have been under a number of times so at my surgery I told myself to remember what the guys in the operating room were saying while i was out. Didn't work, close eyes, open eyes. No memories. Not scary, just weird. Most definitely the best sleep you can possibly have...without dreams...I think. :)

One more sleep!!!!!!

You're going to do great. It's perfectly normal to be nervous. The knock out for me was pretty funny - I was getting strapped down to the table (which is normal for surgery) and a voice from behind me says "Take three deep breaths" I remember taking one. The next thing I know I'm waking up. I asked the nurse, "Are they done?" Yes replied with a "Yes." I said, "Are you sure they operated on ME?" She asked if I wanted to see the incisions. I declined.

Best of luck to you tomorrow - just keep thinking about all the reasons you wanted to do this. Keep your eye on the prize!

I am also having surgery tomorrow. Need to be at the Hospital at 10:30 AM.

Don't forget to come back and tell us how it went. :)

I had my Lap-Band removed 3 months ago. Now I am revising to the sleeve.

I almost backed out of surgery the day before and the morning of surgery in admitting. I was scared. I was mad at myself -thinking, "has it really come to this?" "have you tried hard enough to lose on your own?" "What the hell are you doing to yourself?"

I was terrified.

That's when I thought of all the reasons I wanted to have this surgery in the first place. If you're committed to the surgery, don't let fear stand in your way!

Best of luck to all of you - let us know how you're all doing! You got this!!!!

Well i made it!! Last night was tough and I just slept most of the day. I couldn't make myself pee so they had to do a catheter which was disappointing. I'm still having so much pain in my chest area. It's by far the worst part.

I'd love to hear how everyone else that got sleeves last night is doing.

I should be able to go home today. I need 3 doctors to clear me. My surgeon just cleared me, now I need Pulmonary and internist to sign off.

I am looking forward to going home. I do have to go home with the drain tube for 1 week. I also has a Hiatal Hernia repaired with my sleeve surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
