rondajs 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Have any of you been in so much pain that you feel like you are taking too much meds? I have to take the Lortab Elixir every 2-2.5 hours. Before the surgery, I would take Hydrocodone for migranes or back pain. So I do probably have a bit of resistance built up. Would it be normal to need a bit more than what is prescribed or I am just a wimp? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
rkj123 0 Posted March 30, 2007 I had my gallbladder removed in September and usually I am very tough regarding pain but I just couldn't get enough of the pain med. I was in the ER twice with the pain and to the doctor several times during the week following and they couldn't find what was causing the extreme pain. Finally, a week and a day after the surgery, I got sick of it and decided to try it without the pain meds (they didn't seem to be helping anyway and I was having trouble getting a good breath while on them) and within 5 hours, I had no more pain. I must have been having some type of weird reaction to the pain medication (I believe it was Tylox and another one that I don't off hand remember the name of). So, if I ever am able to get the band, it is little or no pain meds for me!! Hope things get better for you soon!! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
rondajs 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Thank you. I had the surgery yesterday morning and last night was terrible. I do have a bit less pain today, but I am still tanked on the meds. I talked with my aunt today who had the surgery last June and she did not have any pains at all. I wish that could have been my situation. I was in pain once I awoke in recovery. It was terrible.
