Disgusted and embarrassed!

Recommended Posts

I had my gastric sleeve surgery approximately four weeks ago. I lost 15 lbs. pre-operation and 15 lbs. within one week after surgery. The scale has not moved since. I am sticking to my diet and Protein and Water intake and just in the last week and a half started exercising every single day for at least 1/2 hour. So in three weeks of eating less than ever, all the water and protein and exercise and nothing?! I know so many people that have had this done and they lost in excess of 50 lbs. in first couple of months. What could I be doing wrong?

Increase the protien and calories and activity level when walking. Change things up on a regular basis.

You are doing NOTHING wrong. This is what happens to most everyone in the first couple of weeks. It's how your body adjusts to the trauma it has recently experienced. Someone posts this exact question everyday. Keep up the good work and I promise the scale will move!

Thanks for the advice. I don't expect miracles, but for all the work I am really putting into it, I did expect to see more results.

I slowed down about 2-3 weeks after surgery, but then all of a sudden the weight started coming off again. Now I'm at almost 7 months after surgery and the weight loss is slowing down. I'm getting frustrated too! I'm doing everything right, following doctors orders to a "T". I'm going to try adding more time to my bike (stationary) riding see if that helps

Check out Butterthebean's profile. He has a link posted in his signature line that explains stalls. It's a great read.

agree with other posters on a few things def check out butterthebeans profile and as teachamy said someone posts about this everyday! it happened to me too. i lost 13 lbs the first week post op and then stalled from week 2 until around my 2 month mark and then out of no where lost another 16. hang in there your body is in shock and needs time to adjust.

I will look for it now. Thanks for responding. Although I wish I had more weight loss, it helps to know I'm not alone.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
