8 months in and only few lbs to go so im going to ask this question..

Recommended Posts

I am less than 10lbs from goal. But i have surpassed my first goal my surgeon set for me months ago by 30lbs so i changed my goal to 210ish. I actually had my first weight gain of 3+ LBS. No biggie I mean im lifting more weights and trying to tone now. Also I feel less restriction. I can eat more. Are both of these issues normal? I guess they are not issues but is what I am experiencing normal? A small weight gain as well as ability to eat more?

Thank you

Christian

You do gain weight when you build muscle mass. And use more fuel. So that is normal. Being able to eat more at this point is normal as well. That being said....We still have to watch the amount of food we put in our sleeves..

I was told that the stomach does not stretch, what happens instead if we consume too much over a period of time is a pocket forms below the stomach and can cause problems later on. That means that the small intestine expands. It would be better to eat more healthy meals in a day then eat more at one meal.

By continuing to watch your Protein intake, Water and eating as healthy as you can. You will eventually find your body settling into a weight that is right for you. Right now I am struggling with this issue as well. Waiting to see if my body will settle out to its natural weight.....

Congratulations on your success by the way!

Thank u for that info re food intake,.

Im still doing like 3 maybe 4 small meals per day of about 300 - 400 calories each. I see your pretty much at your goal as well. Yeah i suppose its all up to your body but you have done it as well. its amazing. Im going to see how i do when i weigh in the end of next week.. i was in Mexico for 2 weeks and just got home 3 days ago and needless to say the resort was awesome but the food was well YUCK!!! HAHA. I did the best I could. Now im back on a roll.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
