Recommended Posts

Friday he told me that we are going to start doing planks on the floor.....no way eh!!!!!!!!!

And he is starting me doing squats without a chair with a 6 lb medicine ball.....I am scared I am going to hit the floor with that one.......My butt!!Oh my butt!!!

Today I did the bridge with my feet up on my exercise ball......Now that was a trip let me tell you....My legs and thighs were killing me!

I'm only beginning this.......I think this stuff may kill me after all!!!! :)

Oh my trainer likes to think I'm gonna do step-ups!! Clearly he hasn't received the memo that step-ups will make me spontaneously combust! Wasn't that on my health form?!? LOL! On the plus side I wear a heart monitor that is easy to read even from a short distance... So we can agree when I need a break. ;)

Is there a pool at your gym? Can you have training sessions in the pool?

Just make sure that they are taking you at a moderate pace. Some trainers get in their heads about training and don't think about where you are at the time. Good Luck!

I do a lot of those same exercises at my weight now (pre-op) and survive: this means you can do it no problem! Good luck and don't forget Protein right after your workout to make yourself less sore the next day. I swear by Quest Bars!

My trainer specializes in people like me who have had surgeries and life changing things happen to them like coma's. so he is in tune with me..I just think I am not in tune with him....I don't like to sweat, or be sore and both are happening to me..And the workouts are getting harder and harder. He smiles I swear! All in a days work right!!!!!!!!!!!!

RJ, I thought I could never do those moves when I started. Within a couple weeks I could and they just got easier every time. I weighed about 220 at the time. I never, ever thought that exercising could be fun, but after a while it was - and I missed it if I could not! So hang in there, you can do it.

Planks are the work of the devil. I could barely roll over in bed the first couple of times I planked.

I have to do them on my forearms because my wrists are wrecked from arthritis. But they are a great exercise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
