Do I still have Sleep Apnea?

Recommended Posts

My husband hasn't complained about my snore, snore, stop breathing, snore, snore lately because I have been dutifully wearing my C-Pap like a good little Darth Vader-wanna-be. Just wondering for those of you that have been able to go off the dreaded C-Pap, was your BMI in the obese, overweight, or normal weight stage? I am just wondering when I can ask for them to do another sleep study.

Thanks! :)

I use a CPAP and have for over a decade. When originally diagnosed they said it would help me lose weight (NOT!) I am back down to the weight I was when I was first diagnosed, and I know I need to lose at least another 40 pounds before I can think about going off the CPAP. sleep apnea can happen to skinny people too, so you won't know until you get a little further into the weight loss if can be off the machine. The respiratory therapist can dial down your pressures if you feel like you are being blasted with air or are swallowing air due to high pressure.

I am 7 .5 months out down 106 pounds. I am 1 70 and goal is 145. I had to keep going back and having them lower the air pressure several times. Could not sleep with it anymore pressure and air got to much. Then I stopped all together using it. So it seemed once I was below 200 I starting adjusting. I was diagnosed with it about 6 years ago because my husband recorded me he was so worried. With me it was totally weight related. Now I sleep like a baby and husband says I am super quiet and no choking or snoring.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
