Gun Enthusiasts Mobilize

WASHINGTON — A massive and seemingly mobilized online community has sprung among gun rights advocates readying for any possible action by the Democratic-led Congress to limit an individual's right to bear arms.
an explosion of activity among Web loggers shows Second Amendment purists are anything but complacent with the new majority.

I don't see the point of assault rifles being used for hunting, but they are SOOOOOO awesome to target practice with!!!

If you want to take my guns, you will have to pry them from my cold, dead, rigored fingers. And even them, I might fight you for them.

I always thought the 2nd amendment was formed to protect the right of states and the integrity of milita, not to give individuals weapon rights. Without ratification it reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

We believe that the constitutional right to bear arms is primarily a collective one, intended mainly to protect the right of the states to maintain militias to assure their own freedom and security against the central government. In today's world, that idea is somewhat anachronistic and in any case would require weapons much more powerful than handguns or hunting rifles. The ACLU therefore believes that the Second Amendment does not confer an unlimited right upon individuals to own guns or other weapons nor does it prohibit reasonable regulation of gun ownership, such as licensing and registration.

Ahhhh, the ACLU...

I have to step away for a moment. I believe they can be a wonderful organization, but more and more they are becoming...no, I gotta walk away...

I'm divided on this issue. My Dad thinks all women should carry guns in their purses and be trained how to use them starting when they're teenagers! HAHAHA! He's crazy!

I don't know. The gun issue is not a big concern for me. Criminals are still always going to have guns, period, and there's nothing we can do about it. I would be in favor of more strict laws and background checks before one buys a gun, but don't think I would favor completely outlawing them for private citizens, especially because I have heard of cases where women have fought off intruders or rapists in their home via use of their (the woman's) gun.

I am not worried about criminals having guns. I'm worried about the military and police being the only people with guns. I absolutely oppose any gun bans and I'm a bleeding heart liberal. Given the move toward monarchy of the present administration, I don't want to the military and police to be the only ones with guns. That scares me a whole lot.

As someone who has sucessfully used a handgun to persuade an uninvited stranger in my house to leave before I left him without a head, I would be hard-pressed to let someone take my guns. Many years later, as a 911 operator, I took calls from people who had guns - and those who did not have guns - while burglars were in their homes. The difference was pretty convincing. Those with guns knew they stood a chance - those without knew they didn't unless the police got there in time. BTW, sometimes it took 10 minutes or more for the police to arrive.

I have a concealed handgun license and scored 249 out of a possible 250 on my last shooting test. I'm almost 55 years old, female, and have had access to guns my entire life and have never behaved irresponsibly with a gun. Not everyone should have a gun and/or license but I sure like the idea that a good many non-criminals have them.

I am a firm believer that if law abiding citizens are not allowed to have guns the criminals WILL still have them! I think the chance of encountering a potential victim who is "packing" keeps the scum bags at bay.LOL

Guns scare me, to be honest. But I can see the points about law-abiding citizens having them, and can certainly understand the desire to protect one's life and property. But I wish like hell the NRA would back off of objecting to background checks and waiting periods, and realize that a sensible approach to gun ownership does NOT include unfettered access to assault rifles.

The fact is that guns are dangerous, much more dangerous than cars in the wrong hands. In children's hands. It absolutely breaks my heart when I hear about an accidental shooting of or by a child caused by the carelessness of a gun-owning parent.

I never bothered to get a license for a handgun, as I never liked them. My brother used to own a shooting range, so I shot skeet and targets. I was Annie Oakley! Whoo Hoo!

I figure all I need to deter a burglar is my shotgun. Don't even need shells. There's not a man alive who doesn't know the sound of a shotgun racking! It would be a pretty brave burglar who stayed around after that.

Ditto. We have several shotguns in the house and my husband and I both know how to use them. I've never had the interest in owning a handgun. They scare me a little. But just leave me with my shotguns and I'll be a happy camper.

My guy has many guns and a concealed weapons permit.

I have to be honest with you - I'm more concerned for my safety when he's carrying his gun then when he's not. I don't like that he's carrying a weapon that can be taken from him and used to kill him or me. I don't think anyone has ever been killed by my can of mace, which makes me feel more secure than his gun.

I personally don't see the need for the average citizen (my guy included) to have weapons.

But that's just my opinion, and that's what makes this a great country, the ability to voice our opinions! :)

I have to say, I agree with the ACLU's position. While I think that sane, law-abiding, adult citizens should be able to own a gun, I do think that there should be limits. There is no legitimate reason to own an automatic machine gun or a sawed-off shotgun, IMO. I think there should be regulations on the type and number of guns a person can own, and I think there should be regulations on the way they are allowed to keep them. (At the very least, kept with a trigger lock on them or kept in a gun safe.) I also think that if you have a gun, every person in the household should be required to take gun safety courses.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
