SandeeD 363 Posted February 24, 2014 My surgery is tomorrow. I know that people mean well and want to give you good vibes for surgery, but can't they choose something else to say other than, "good luck" or "I'm keeping my fingers crossed?" I'm nervous enough and those phrases sound so unsure, like "I hope nothing happens." Hey, maybe it's me, but it's so annoying. Just saying. 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and RJ'S/beginning reacted to this

I'm nervous enough and those phrases sound so unsure, like "I hope nothing happens." Hey, maybe it's me, but it's so annoying. Just saying. I totally understand. I didn't have that as much with this surgery. But the day before my c-section my chiropractor (who is also a nurse practitioner) tells me about the one time he observed a c-section how the anesthesiologist couldn't get the spinal and had to do it four times. Uh...gee. Thanks for the calming words. Lol. When it came time for mine I was a mess thinking "please let this guy get it on the first time!" I don't know what goes through people's heads. LipstickLady 25,682 Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) People are just trying to be nice. Instead of concentrating on the words that YOU might have chosen, think about the intent in which the message was sent. I hear you (I promise I do as most people p!ss me off on a daily basis with their ignorance) but I do think your (totally natural) stress and anxiety is working you up about nothing. SandeeD 363 Posted February 24, 2014 Lipstick, you're totally right! I hibernated like a bear during my pre-op diet so I wouldn't have to deal with people! lol 2 ☠carolinagirl☠ and gmanbat reacted to this
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted February 24, 2014 I hibernated for the protection of others. I wanted to cut someone the first few days. 3 ☠carolinagirl☠, gmanbat and SandeeD reacted to this
MichiganChic 3,262 Posted February 24, 2014 That's people being supportive the best way they know how. Take with the intention behind it, rather than the words they used. It's surprising difficult to convey something so simple to another person. So wonderful you have people rooting for you 2 SandeeD and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
gmanbat 5,889 Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) Have a good time? I don't know, free morphine kind of appeals to me. Lortab twangs my buds, too. Durned 60's coming back up like sour milk. Edit: Not free, more like lower risk of merchant induced injury and governmental incarceration.
