shellbell1007 29 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi. I live in New Haven county and had my sleeve surgery on October 1st 2013. So far I have lost 76 pounds and I'm very happy with it. Would like to lose 35 more to hit my goal. Experiencing a bit of a stall but I read on another thread that increasing my fluids/protein might do the trick. How's everyone doing? HumanMerelyBeing 287 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi there - I am also here in CT. Just had my surgery on 2/4/14 at Hartford Hosp. I lost 22 lbs between the pre-op and 1st week post-op but now have been in a total stall for the last 2 weeks. So soon after surgery, this is a bit of a downer. I am still in some pain so my walking has been minimal. I hope to pick this up in the next week. You are doing amazing: 75 lbs in 4 months! You go girl! longtallsally13 1 Posted February 25, 2014 This is my very first time on a forum so i'll ask forgiveness in advance for the long post. I had my sleeve in Oct 2013. I'm down 76lbs and have about 20 to go. I have not had to work very hard at this, although I think that was a gift from God to make up for the most miserable 4 weeks of my life right after surgery. I really only started eating regularly after about 2-3 months. Everyone keeps telling me how great I look, but i'd rather feel better. My hair is falling out due to not getting enough Protein the first few months, hopefully now that I am getting in my Protein it will stop soon. I feel dehydrated a lot due to struggling to get my fluids in, although its slowly improving. I used to drink Water by the gallons pre-op and now I cant drink it all all unless it is flavored, and then only in very small amounts. It is finally getting easier to ingest food without nausea so I am getting the food in now. The Fluid issue is up and down, it just seems like way to much effort needed to get it in. I'm hoping once its warmer out I'll want to drink more. I'll just keep trying. I was pretty fit pre-op even though so overweight because I'm so active, so I am just now starting to see some loose skin stuff-It's time to lift some weights I guess! Also, I stopped taking the Prilosec. I don't like to take pills, and have no interest in taking one for the rest of my life. I eat pretty healthy/organic for the most part, I just want my stomach/hcl to do its job naturally. I'm seeing my Dr tomorrow for my 4 month check, he'll probably be pissed off at me for stopping the Prilosec because of the potential infection issue, but I've been fine. Is there anyone out there who does not take Prilosec? 1 MarBella reacted to this

Soon the pain will be a memory and you'll be on the road to the new you. My advice to you during this time is drink drink drink and move move move as much as you are possible. Its during these first few weeks that you have the potential to lose the most weight quickly. But don't be discouraged if it doesn't happen that way. Everyone is different. 1 HumanMerelyBeing reacted to this

I also had a hard few weeks after surgery. Im a type 1 diabetic and after being home from the hospital for 2 days I had to be rushed back due to complications with my diabetes. I ended up with DKA and couldn't breathe and stayed in the hospital for a few days. So needless to say I lost precious time in the beginning to heal and exercise. But I didnt let that stop me and now I'm down almost 80lbs in only 4 1/2 months. You can do this!!!!

MarBella 3 Posted November 5, 2016 Hi! I'm also from CT. I just had gastric sleeve done on 11/01/16. I went to my PCP today and was up 3 pounds from day of surgery. Extremely bummed, but hoping it's just post surgical bloating and Water retention. I want this to work so badly. QueenMommyDearest 5 Posted December 19, 2016 Hello fellow nutmeggers! I am pre op. I don't even have a surgery date yet. I live in Windham county in the quiet corner. I'm having the procedure done at Middlesex hospital. Just looking for some support. I am going through all of the pre op tests and diet now and it is tough. RNSuzanne 15 Posted May 6, 2017 I'm from CT, southeastern area! I was sleeved on 4/12/17 at Hartford Hospital also, with Dr. Tishler. Since starting my pre-op diet, I have lost 24.5 pounds. I'm off one of my Blood pressure meds and all of my pain meds! I keep my Protein between 80-100 grams and have not had trouble with hair falling out. Hydrating is hard, but I mostly get all 64 oz. in. I was hoping to lose faster, but I think I was a little unrealistic. Nice to find all of you here!Suzanne

RNSuzanne 15 Posted May 6, 2017 I'm sure that when you began adding calories, your body realized it wasn't being starved and you started dropping pounds. This happened to me, I was sleeved 4/12/17 and I'm down 24.5 pounds. How are you doing now, my friend?[emoji4]
kmarie46 5 Posted May 10, 2017 Hi CT sleevers. I was sleeved on 5/2 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport by Dr. Floch. So far I'm down about 25 pounds and can't wait to start eating food (tired of the liquids ☹️) So far everything has been good no pain just tummy feels a little queasy after I drink but over time it lessens. 1 RNSuzanne reacted to this
