Hi I'm 21 :) 7 days post sleeved yesterday! So happy with the decision. How are you finding things?

hi there :) things are okay. I converted from band to sleeve so I'm somewhat used to constriction. I have found that cold fluids make me nauseous, it's gotta be room temp or warm. How about you?

Hi! My name is Bethany and I'm 21. I'm in the process of getting the sleeve. I'm in the process of going to see the phycologist and hopefully within a couple of weeks I'll have the sleeve.

I was just wondering if there was any advice you would like to give me. I'm very excited! Can't even begin to tell you how excited I am but of course you were probably just as excited to get it done.

I'm about to start following you on Instagram. ????

Thanks for being an inspiration!

Hey Beth, I'm pretty much in your boat. I'm 26, trying to get the sleeve, and I have my psych evaluation next week. You made a good decision to join the boards...I haven't been on here long and I've already met some awesome people and gained more knowledge! Just wanted to tell you good luck...I'll add you as a friend on here if thats ok!

I'm also on IG but I don't post very many "selfies" lol...actually hardly any at all. One of my goals from having surgery is to be more comfortable in my own skin. I want to be able to take pictures with my son and not be uncomfortable! I plan to make a separate IG account when I start my pre op diet to track my weight loss in pictures...but until then anyone is welcome to follow me on my regular IG account, find me under morganowens87! :)

Morgan, that's awesome! I have my evaluation in about two weeks and I'm a little nervous about that. Erin, how was your evaluation? What was it like and what kind of questions did they ask? I get nervous talking to new people sometimes so hopefully the evaluation won't be too bad. Also, how are you recovering? Another thing, I went to the doctor today and when he was talking to me he tried recommending the lap band. I was just curious if anyone's doctors tried recommending that instead of the sleeve. I told him I was dead set on the sleeve so we are going to proceed with that. Thanks guys for being so awesome and trying to answer my questions! ????

I found this website today while browsing at work, it was really detailed on what you can expect. I'm still nervous but it will help going in with a little knowledge on what is about to go down lol. BUT, literally everyone I've asked has said the psych evaluation is a breeze! :)

I actually had the lapband four years ago. I was visiting my surgeon discussing some of my problems when he recommended the sleeve. I only lost 36 pounds with the lapband. I've already lost over half that with the sleeve. The lapband has it's benefits, but it's really about restriction and controlling yourself. You can eat anything you want, even a whole pizza if you sit there long enough to try to get it all down. With the sleeve, I get super full. Like thanksgiving dinner full, on next to nothing. It's amazing. Recovery was easy. It was hard the first couple days with pain, but after that it was easy, I don't even feel like I just had major surgery a month ago! I'm a stomach sleeper, and I was able to sleep on my belly again within under a week. But typically they just wonder how long you've struggled, what you've done for weightloss etc. The sleeve though is so much better than lapband. I'll attach some pictures in a minute.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
