Burping and bad gas six days out.

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery Feb 18th. Everytime I drink Water or Protein Shake, or even any activity, all I do is burp. I still have excessive gas in my stomach area although much better in the shoulders. I am scheduled to go tomorrow to have my drain tube removed and I am hoping it will take some of that gas with it. The doctor said the Fluid would go from red to a light yellow color but it is still pretty red. Is this normal?

At two months out, I do not have gas problems now. The only belching I get is that tupperware burp when my tummy tells me to stop eating / drinking. I did not have a tube, so sorry I cannot answer that one for you.

I'm no help with the drain as mine was removed the day after and it was still putting out red.

I still get the burps and I'll be 2 weeks out this coming Tuesday. I tried Gas-x strips early on, but found the walks were the best for getting gas moving out. I don't have gas pains now, just the burps or hiccups now and again. I also attribute that to taking in more Fluid at a time compared to the ounce every 15 minutes of the first few days. I think the fluid is moving the air out of the way, so to speak.

I had my surgery the 18th as well but no drainage tubes. I do suffer from severe gas so the doctor told me to take infant gas drops and I'm also using gasx strips. I'm actually doing pretty good as far as being active but still having problem swallowing due to the gas so I'm not eating as much as I should.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
