I haven't run into this at all since surgery but yesterday and this evening I'm craving treats like little Debbie's or...idk a bowl of kids cereal..strawberry twizzlers...ugghh...why? Is it because I'm really taking it to the Max at the gym? Today I did a 3 mile walk/run interval around a golf course and it was about 50 hills.....meals today were 1egg and two Turkey sausage Breakfast links..lunch was a shake..and inner I had salmon shrimp and a few bites of grilled zucinni...I drink only Water and non carbonated sugar free drinks....

It could definitely be your workout. Also consider the time of the month. I find many ladies complain about cravings every month. Can you up your calories at all? That may help. I was really craving my salty/crunchy snack food today, so I bought some apples for the crunch, and some trail mix with salted pumpkin seeds for both the salty and the crunchy. I find when I am tired and it's bed time, I want to resort to my past habits, so searching for salty and crunchy that is also healthy feels pretty satisfying. While snarfing down a bag of Tostitos would also feel satisfying during PMS, I guess I can avoid it these days! :)

It happens to everyone. Sometimes it is caffeine that increases the insulin response leading to the munchies. Sometimes it is good old fashion stress. Maybe it is a combination of the artificial sweeteners in your sugar free drinks. Or maybe your body really is looking for another nutrient like good fats in its attempt to achieve homeostasis. Regardless, try drinking Water first. Next try eating some cheese. Seriously. Good fat signals the brain for satiety and your cravings will ease. When this happens to me, I go eat a baby bell lite and that usually does the trick. Be sure you are eating a proper ratio of the macros (carbs, Proteins and fats) daily. Also make sure you are eating enough calories to offset the gym workouts. What do you do at the gym and how many calories do you eat a day?

I can relate, I'm having that kind if day as well but I want diet Pepsi and pizza! I realized I am having PMS. I hope that is what I going on. I just keep myself busy and try to change my thoughts away from food. God luck!

Not time of the month so I can't really blame that..I generally don't even count calories because I mainly stick to protien..maybe I need to reorganize the frequency of my meals if I'm gonna keep working out like this..add another shake in the evening perhaps..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
