2cute2bbig 38 Posted February 23, 2014 Is a sleep study required for pulmonary clearance????
ReaRaes 49 Posted February 23, 2014 Some doctors offices require it if you have any symptoms that you might have sleep apnea, some insurances require it as well. My clinic required it after I had the symptoms, slight snoring and being very tired, not sleeping well, waking up multiple times during the night etc. 1 2cute2bbig reacted to this

Sallyawbc 46 Posted February 23, 2014 It was required for Health Net but I had one 2 years ago that was normal so they accepted it.
SugarFreeMe 293 Posted February 23, 2014 My surgeon required pulmonary and that doctor required the sleep study. They are looking for sleep apnea or other sleeping issues. Interestingly enough, lack of sleep is a huge contributor to excess weight gain. The body doesn't get enough rest so it hordes fat because it wants to conserve energy stores. Anyhow, some require it and some don't. I will say though that the sleep study was probably one of the worst nights sleep I had. The place I had to go to was soooo noisy. I could hear people snoring, the staff using a microwave, toilets flushing. I went home and took a 4 hour nap.
KristinaRnY 455 Posted February 23, 2014 I did the in home sleep apnea test and my results were inconclusive so then I had to do the study in the "lab". I slept better there! Even with all the stuff hooked up to me in an unfamiliar place. They have a whole wing in a nice inn. I had like my own personal suite, they had us arrive at 5pm but lights out was 11 so we got to use the pool and sauna or we could hang out in our rooms and take a bubble bath, watch tv, or use the internet. They also provided Breakfast on our way out in the morning after out showers. I kinda felt spoiled lol.
