Arkansas Medicaid

Recommended Posts

Hi!!! Is there anyone with Arkansas Medicaid? I just got approved for Arkansas Medicaid and I know that Arkansas Medicaid will cover weight loss surgery. I live in West Memphis, Arkansas and I am in search of a surgeon. Any suggestions? Also, I would appreciate any other information that you can provide about your experience with weight loss surgery preferably the gastric sleeve.

Thanking you in advance,

smilee

Hi Smilee, I live in Mississippi but I hear there are some great surgeons in Memphis, Tn. I had the gastric sleeve 2 weeks ago and I'm feeling wonderful. I've lost 24 pounds so far and I can't wait to lose the rest. The first week is pretty difficult but once you get the drinking fluids down the rest will come easier so start drinking your Water now. You will have to contact Medicaid to find out what their requirements are. I had to do a 3 month pre-op supervised diet and have all kinds of tests run but it was all worth it. Good luck to you.

Awsome. Congrats. What requirements you had to fulfill? Im debating between Baptisit and Rollers in Fayetteville.

I had to attend a seminar and then 2 week pre-op diet. I had to also talk about all my attempts to try to lose weight and I also have GERD and sleep apnea so I was qualified rather quickly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
