Invitation to dinner?

Recommended Posts

My family and I were invited to a persons house tomorrow night. I'm on my 10th day of post-op. I don't really know these people all that well, know them from church and they are having a few other people over as well. So...what do I do? Do I go and not eat?? OR, decline the invitation.

Such a dilemma!!!!

I agree with passing. It is way to early to attempt sitting there when you know that you cannot eat. And remember, your stomach is still healing and if you were to eat anything at this point could cause upset.

Good Luck!

I had my surgery the week before Thanksgiving. The difference here is I told everyone under the sun about my LapBand so there was Soup available for me. If you are the position where declining a dinner invtie is not an option, tell the people you are with that either you are not that hungery or not feeling well and youwill just have soup or something to drink. If you know this is coming up, make sure to have a shake or something prior to going so you wopn't have hunger pains.

If there is an opportunity to socialize, you could tell the host that you are unable to make it to dinner, but would go after dinner, to say hello, etc. That way, you could have the meal that you can have at home which would be within your restrictions and you would not insult the hostess.

You don't want to try and eat something too soon, and deal with the consequences. I'd say pass also.

I'd pass too. It's too soon and can you imagine how terrible it would be if you eat something and it gets stuck during your meal at this people's house??? should that happen sometime (hope not!) I'd rather be at my place or with people I'm at ease with, not at some people's house I hardly know...

If you are trying to keep the fact of your lapband surgery private then gracefully decline and ask for a "raincheck" on their hospitality, or as has been suggested, arrive fashionably late "having eaten something earlier" and enjoy the company. Be aware that if anyone else who attends the function knows about your surgery then there is a better than even chance that everyone else will know about it before the night is over. Well meaning people do talk you know.

If, on the other hand, you are open about your surgery then call the hostess before hand and explain your situation so you can arrange to either bring your own meal or have something suitable on hand. Any decent host, and certainly any gracious host, will be understanding and try to accomodate you within reason. You'll also probably have a ready made topic to discuss since you might be surprised at how many other people are interested in WLS for themselves or someone they know.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
