I belong to a Congregational church and we have Communion once per month. Since I'm still in the post-op stage how can I eat the bread? Actually, even when I'm ready to eat "real food", can I have communion? The bread is broken up into pieces and then we dip it into grape juice.

Thanks!

its little amounts right? is it real bread or do they do wafers? test it out at home first so you dont pb it back up right there...goodness that could send a wrong message couldnt it?

if theres a problem with eating even that little piece of bread, talk to your pastor and he can bless a piece of cracker for you specificly.

id practice with a piece the estimated size at home first and just see. Alot of bandsters can eat bread still.

My husband is a Congregational UCC minister and he said if you were a parishioner he would say to you.. "don't do anything that is going to harm you". He said you do not have to take communion in both forms.

I will have to do the same thing after April 10th. Maybe just take the tiniest crumb?? Do you have intinction every time?? We have the bread and the cup separately, so it won't be a much a problem for me.

Teach,

My church is also a Congregational UCC Church. We usually have communion the first Sunday of each month but during Lent we have had it every Sunday. This will be the first Sunday since being banded I will be back at church. We have the bread and the cup separately as well. We take a small piece of bread and dip it into the cup of juice. I suppose I could do it if I just took a small piece of bread and just took a nibble from it.

I think you'll be fine. Just don't forget to chew! It's a small piece of bread but if it's unleavened bread it'll be chewy. Just make as mushy as you can in your mouth before swallowing.
