Great story, Sue! DeLarla, if you want to contact Rumbaut, try e-mail, so you won't have to pay long-distance tolls: rrumbaut@gastricband.com. Count me as a big Rumbaut fan. (This is not a paid announcement!)

Betty, that site offered great information - the best I've seen yet. I've asked lots of people about the IRS question, and I finally have answers. You should start a separate post - great site. Thanks!

Hi Lisa,

I met Rumbaut last year at the Texas Bandsters Bash. He is wonderful. While I was doing my research for the band and wasnt sure if insurance would pay, I contacted Rumbaut. He not only gave me his cell phone number, but even called me while he and his family were on vacation in Galveston. He answered all my questions personally, even though he knew I was still waiting on insurance approval. And yeah, hes not hard to look at either. .....

If I needed a port, I would go to him. GOsh, that sounded so Wizard of OZ ish.....!

My band was at the hotel, I mean hospital at Santa Eglacia...it wasfabulous...private suite, huge bathroom, mountains at every viewing of my very pictresque window, nurses at the ready within seconds of a call, a direct cell phone number TO MY DOC (I'VE NEVER GOTTEN THAT IN THE US). We walked over to Cartier and bought my dad some stuff from the Hugo Boss store...FABULOUS. I am going to try to post pics of the chapel at the hospital...it was MOST impressive!

I had my band put on by Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Acuna Mexico. The experience was wonderful. He was fabulous and his assistant Barbara was incredible. The time and mentoring that she provides during your couple of days there is invaluable. I am 6 weeks post op and doing GREAT! I've lost 19 lbs and 14 inches and feel that I'm going strong. I'm following up with Dr. Jaime Ponce in Dalton for my fills...my first is scheduled for April 25.

Now, the hotel and surroundings were VERY BASIC and plain but exceptionally clean and well run. I have been in medicine for over 25 years and am the Director of Patient Care Services at our large regional trauma center...so have seen it all. I was EXTREMELY IMPRESSED with the nursing staff at the small hospital in Acuna. They were very professional, very proud of their work. I never wanted for a thing. When it was time for my antibiotic, my vital signs, my pain medicine, my anti-inflammatory...they walked in the room within minutes before I ever asked. They spoke very little English, but we communicated pretty easily. Dr. Rodriguez speaks very good English and is very easy to talk to even now via email or his cell phone. He is very supportive. I have very high expectations and they were exceeded by the professionalism and the care delivery of the medical team. The surroundings were sparse, but that wasn't what I was there for. Three others that I know have had the same experience as me from here and we all send accolades.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
