Lettuce? Any problems? How Long?

Recommended Posts

Just curious.. How long until everyone started eating lettuce and salads? I've heard some people have issues with lettuce.

I am almost a year out and only started eating salad a few months ago. Only reason was because before surgery, I always had issues (cramping, runs etc) much to my surprise I no long have issue! I am so excited because I love salads but would always skip them to avoid issues. I now have a romaine lettuce salad with some chicken and yogurt Caesar dressing every day for lunch.

I had my first bites of lettuce/salad ~8 weeks post-op. I don't have it dry, though. I put Salad Dressing on it, even overnight, so it's moist. I actually like my salad leaves moistened anyway, so that works for me.

I had my first salad last week, spinach leaves only. It went down fine with no problems. I'm about 10 weeks out--surgery 12-16-13.

I ate a small salad with romaine, 1/2 a roma Tomato, and a bit of green onion today. It was my first time post op and I am 9 weeks out. I felt a bit of discomfort, but it wasn't bad enough that I didn't finish it.

My NUT is stickler for this stuff. She says 12 weeks out for raw fruits and veggies. (and nuts, which I have been craving.) Anyway, I have slight IBS, so I think I will wait the full 12 weeks before I try a salad.< /p>

I've been scared to try salad. I am six months post op. I have had shredded raw cabbage and it made me very ill. I think I may try a salad soon though because I do love them!

I had my first taste of lettuce today, 8 weeks out. I stuffed 3 Romaine leaves with lobster salad. YUM!

I ate salad within 6 weeks and I never had an issue. The only problems I noticed would be if I included dressing or cheese. As long as my salad only had lettuce, other veggies, and a Protein, I was good for the most part. I now have a salad almost everyday and I'm at 5.5 months post-op.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
