Husband is turning into an Ass!

Recommended Posts

Ok so as the weight is coming off, my husband is freaking out. He is getting more grumpy. Is this normal? He was very supportive (he's overweight himself) with me joining the gym, and all the doctors appointments. I'm still pre op. But since losing 30 lbs, he keeps saying I'm changing to much, and that I wasn't like this when we married. We have 4 children together, and we have been together 12 years. I'm not going anywhere. I love him. But I tried explaining to him that when your BIG you say no to a lot of things, and as the weight comes off I'm more comfortable saying yes! Any advice here?

I guess the only thing we can do is offer them as much reassurance as possible. I am still pre op as well and my fiancée has been very supportive so far but I am so afraid of this. I don't want to be a statistic and I try not to think about it too much because I think that just manifests it into reality. I don't know what to say honestly other than keep him involved and reassurance that you love him, you might have to meet him more than halfway. Be understanding and you know try to see it from his perspective, he may be feeling insecure. Hopefully it's a short lived phase. Goodluck and hopefully you will have some insight to share with me if or when I run into the same situation. It seems like it is inevitable with weight loss and relationships, I see it so often.

I think it's a man thing, my husband get a little jealous, I tray to reassure him I'm not going anywhere, just give him time, it's just their insecurities kicking in, it will leave, it'll get better.

I was going through the samething, but I made a game out of it, now my hubby get to " hit it" every 5 pounds lost so I kind of say wanna hit at 275 280 or you wanna try out this 235 blank, instead of hey I lost blah pounds. It keeps him involved and happy wink wink ;).

My husband had a hard time at 1st. I think seeing is morph into this new body right in front of their eyes brings a bit of their insecurities to light. My husband made comments at 1st like I wouldn't want him anymore now I was thin etc blah blah crap. I recognized he was insecure. All u can so is keep working in assuring him.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
