I used nectar vanilla bean torte as well as Chike coffee. But, I stopped Protein shakes at the two month mark per my nutritionist and surgeon's recommendation/plan. They don't believe in continued Protein shake usage and prefer patients get their Protein in solid food wise, however, they always said a Protein Shake is better than no protein at all and said they would be fine if I was having an issue or on the go and not able to find solid protein.

I have saved all of my Protein powder for my husband who is having surgery in 2 weeks.

That’s AWESOME that your husband is taking the plunge! Best luck to him and prayers for you both tonight ;)

Any more than that and you are either wasting it (passed on through) or it is converted into stored fat. The exception might be casein Protein when taken at night. I am not positive.

How is casein Protein different and why is it the exception?

I like to experiment so I buy a lot of sampler packs. Tried Now cake batter flavor, I wasn'ta fan. I like Pure Protein powder in frosty chocolate. I found I don't like the Body Fortress brand but it is cheap so you should see if you like it. I get it a Walmart. I like GNC total lean but not the calories or price so I may not buy it again but I liked every flavor I tried. Favorite is french vanilla. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury is good too but spendy as we all know. Isopure makes rtd drinks that are horrid so I drink preimere Protein from costco. When I'm out and about and need something I will buy Muscle Milk or Oh Yeah ready to drink as well.

Right now I am on a green smoothie kick. My blender has one scoop chocolate Pure Protein, 4 kales leaves and or whatever greens I pulled from the garden with Water, ice and a pump of suger free Torani.< /p>

The Isopure Ready to Drink is HORRID :o

That’s what I spit and then threw up all over my kitchen floor. UGH!!!

I want to try Unjury and I want to shop around of the best price though. I have used Dutch Chocolate in the Isopure and it is yummy but getting old - REAL quick! I love Kale!!!! My favorite beverage in the blender that involved kale was before the surgery..... I would juice 6 oz of fresh apples --- toss in blender, fresh cut pineapples (they were frozen), Kale and Spinach.... Whole Foods here calls it Green Dream and it is Dreammmmyyyy

I like Beverly International UMP Cookies and Cream..it is a little more indulgent than other Protein powders out there BUT thats why their brand is sooo good!!! I only have a shake here and there or mix the bland Proteins with it. It has 130 calories 3 grams of carbs 1 gram of sugar and 21 grams of protein. Like i said I only drink them when Im having trouble getting the nasty proteins down

Where do you get - Beverly International UMP Cookies and Cream - And is it indulgent because of the price tag? It sounds yummy!

I use Jay's unflavored egg white Protein powder with fat free lactaid milk, cocoa powder unsweetened and 2 sweet n low.

Where do you get jay’s? That genius how you add the cocoa powder - any brand in particular? I’m thinking I can pull this off with some stevia. :D

I personally like the Body Fortress Super Advanced whey. Its at Walmart and only about $15. Its not chalky and tastes AMAZING with an extra scoop of Peanut Butter and some bananas blended in.

And I normally HATE Protein powders and shakes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
