ginger3151 0 Posted March 29, 2007 Hi All: I had my first fill on March 9th and due for 2nd one on April 3rd. Right now I feel that I maybe eating too much, but how do I know? I don't get a full feeling, for example for lunch I had: 3 oz of sliced turkey 1/2 cup cottage cheese 1 snack size Jello I didn't feel full at all! And what is most disturbing, I'm not loosing any weight! I'm playing the yo yo game. Please, any suggestions? If I ate the turkey on a slice of bread with some salad and had an apple instead of Jello, not only would I get more fibre and Vitamins but I'd be full too. chubster808 0 Posted March 30, 2007 I eat way more than your sample menu and that is after several fills. I am up to 6ml in a VG band. Still hoping to reach my "sweet point" soon. ginger3151 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Thank you all. I've been trying to stay away from bread, it seems to get stuck, plus I didn't want the carbs. But I will try whole wheat and make myself a 1/2 of sandwich. I'm hoping the fill will help cause I want to maintain a steady weight loss. I guess my problem is I'm not being patient enough!! ReneBean 3 Posted March 30, 2007 It takes several fills (at least it did for me) to get good restriction - but if you already have issues with bread, then it sounds like you might be close to good restriction. Maybe try eating some raw veggies with your turkey. Remember - cottage cheese & Jello will slide right on through. You need solid foods. When I feel like I need more bulk, I eat sliced veggies and a strictly portioned amount of dip. I never go away hungry - but I keep from eating too many calories. Avoid carrots, corn and Beans - but pretty much anything else is fair game. Pick a veggie that you like raw and go for it. Also - try and remember that what you are aiming for is "Not Hungry". Throw out the concept of "Full" and focus on "Not Hungry". You may find that by switching from those mushy foods to solids will do the trick. Good Luck! ginger3151 0 Posted March 30, 2007 I will try that - I've switched to eating salad with a few croutons (low fat) and once in awhile some bacon bits. I've also added a little bit of low fat cheese. I probably was just making the wrong food choices. I've had problems with bread from the start - if it was soft it got stuck, the same with chicken breast, so I eat dark meat instead! waterlily1072 5 Posted March 30, 2007 Stay away from the soft foods like Jello and cottage cheese. They will go through the stoma quickly and leave you feeling hungry. Also if that is deli turkey you are eating it is softer as well. Try eating non processed meats. Also log everything you eat at fitday or sparkpeople, both are free and will help you keep track of how many calories you are eating. sumlike2h8 0 Posted March 30, 2007 Ginger, Sounds like I'm right where you are at. I have my first fill 3/8/07 1cc in a 4 cc band. I can eat just like I did prior to surgery. Heck, I can eat a burger with a bun, raw veggies, popcorn, etc. You name it, I'm still able to eat it and not feel full or unhungry. I have a second fill scheduled for 4/5/07, hoping like hell that does SOMETHING for me. Right now I feel no different than before. I try making good food choices but it's hard when the band isn't working and it's like a regular old diet. And lets face it, if we were successful dieters we wouldn't of had this surgery. I just wanna say I know just how you're feeling. I'm maintaing my initial 20 pounds lost but not losing and if I do it's a pound here and there, nothing substantial. I even have started walking 45-1 hour a day during lunch. I feel bummed but am keeping faith that evenetually with the right fill I get there. Hang in there! And, although jello and stuff is OK once in awhile I, too, save that kind of stuff for meal times when I'm not real hungry for the same reason Jachut mentions...mushy stuff slips through too fast. An apple or some low-fat cottage cheese will stick with you a little longer. Now, I don't eat bread -just personal choice- so for my complex carb at each meal I might have a few whole-grain crackers to go with my turkey then an apple. ginger3151 0 Posted April 4, 2007 REGULAR FOOD!! WOW, I can actually eat like a "normal person"! :biggrin1: Thank you all. I had my 2nd fill on April 2nd, seems a little better. I've changed my diet a little and am trying to keep mushy foods to a minimum. I had it in my head that I needed to eat "diet foods", i.e. yogurt, cottage cheese, salad, etc. I wasn't eating anything that was "good" - - I recently bought a couple of books, "life after weight loss surgery" there are so many recipes for "REGULAR FOOD". I'm anxious to try some of them. This weekend, I'm cooking, having brisket, twiced baked potatoes, green Beans, and pies for desert. I will stay away from the pies, but plan on eating a little of everything else. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

jag 0 Posted April 9, 2007 When I went for my first fill (which my Dr said I didn't need unless I wanted it b/c I was losing weight) he gave me a sheet with my instructions that stated I was to eat 3 meals a day each meal only FOUR ounces at a time.
