Week 4 and no weight loss for 10 days now!

Recommended Posts

I've had the same experience with stalling. I went the whole month of January without losing weight and was worried that I wouldn't lose anything else. I just knew I had gone through way too much to only lose 42 lbs. I've lost another 10 and I'm stalled again but I'm not so worried this time. I'm not over eating it's just my body trying to catch up to the weight loss. 52 lbs in 3 months is an awful lot for my body to get use to. I think the rest will probably come off in spurts. (I hope)

:)

Has anyone heard or had the experience of a three week stall? I have been doing everything right. I'm getting in about 500-600 calories a day, I'm on mushy foods and I have been able to tolerate everything so far. I haven't tried anything I'm not supposed to have. I'm walking about a mile a day, drinking 64 Ozs of fluids, and getting in between 70-90 grams of Protein a day. At my two week weigh in, I had lost 18 lbs since my pre-surgery weight but then nothing since then! I understand plateaus and stalls and even having a small plateau this early, but I've never in all my years of dieting have had a plateau this early and for this long. I called my dr and they gave me a couple suggestions, but so far, that isn't working either. I'm bummed because I expected at least the first month or two to have the fat melt away and that's not happening. Has anyone else had this happen and if so, how long did it take to get past it? I've increased fluids, exercise and protein and still nada!

I went 6-7 weeks with no weight loss whatsoever (from Christmas to mid-February). About a week ago I suddenly dropped about 4 pounds and today I'm down 2 more for a total of 106 lost. Friday will be my 9 month anniversary - I thought I had hit my 'set-point'. I think it was my body adjusting to this low weight combined with lower activity associated with cold, snowy weather and a touch of hibernation mode. I'd like to lose 10 more pounds and maintain there. If it doesn't happen it wouldn't break my heart - I'm happy enough where I am. I weigh 126 and wear a size 8-10 pants and a small/med top. :-)

I'm looking forward to getting back to my walking and yard work when this weather breaks. I have a 1 1/2 acre yard with lots of gardens that I've neglected when overweight. It'll take a couple years to get them back in order. And I want to put in a patio. I like to cut the grass w/a push mower - that takes 2 1/2 hours every four days or so. That'll help a lot. My job in a bank is not physical and with the short days, cold, ice, and snow my evenings have been a bit too relaxed. I live in the country - there are no gyms within convenient distance.

Terry, congratulations on your success and for hanging in there during such a long stall! With all the work you're planning once the weather gets better, I'm sure you'll make that 10 lb goal. I'm looking forward to being able to say I'm down 100 lbs and I'm so glad I had this surgery. It wouldn't happen if I didn't because I would have already fallen off the wagon with valentines day and Girl Scout Cookies. I am happy to report, this morning I am down 1 lb. I had a shake and zucchini for dinner and walked further, faster and on dirt trails(uneven terrain). I felt like it was a better work out. I can go back to the gym today too...that helped me with presurgery weight loss of 30 lbs.

It sounds like you're off to a great start. You should see a huge difference by summer! Follow your doctor's instructions the best you can and you'll be successful too. Celebrate your successes, both on the scale and off. You work hard for every one of them! :-)

My husband and daughter both have depression. Doctors take it very seriously and usually get you in to see them very fast. There are a lot of good effective treatments for it. Call your doctor ASAP.

I did the exact same thing. I had my RNY on Jan 13th. I lost about 18 pounds - but stalled at 3 weeks - for 10 days. My doctor said to hang in there and I finally started losing again.

Yes. The surgery messes with your hormones. It's important to stay on your meds (I'm assuming you already have) and call your surgeons office. They should have staff that can immediately help you. I hope they do. You've done super good. If possible force yourself to go outside and walk. Getting out of the house and seeing the sun helps me quite a bit. Also, Don't give up on getting some help .

Hang in there Lynetta,

I, too went through the same thing. I thought that something was wrong with my pouch. My dietician actually said that maybe I was not eating enough calories. Go figure. So I definitely made sure that I got close to the desired caloric count each day along with trying to get more protein in because getting that protein down can be difficult at times. You also have to make sure that you're getting enough Fiber in as well. I'm a nurse so please do not be offended when I ask you if you are having regular bowel movements? You need to make sure that you get pretty good bowel movements in also. Good luck and God bless!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
