I'm not very creative either. I did a lot of canned chicken breast - whiz it up with a little low-fat mayo and mustard.

I also liked fat-free refried Beans. I've eaten a lot of scrambled egg, too.

I thought I would love scrambled eggs, but I don't seem to make them very often. I love refried Beans. I sprinkle them with some low fat cheddar and some salsa and they go down nice and easy without having to break out the food processor.

I also buy the 93% fat free ground Turkey. I brown it then braise with chicken broth until it's fully cooked. Then toss it in the food processor until it's at a consistency I can tolerate. I then add a tbsp of BBQ Sauce to my portion and mix it up. It's tasty, but I'm not that hard to please :)

I also do tuna salad with dill pickle relish, low fat mayo and mustard. I dont' even puree it, just mash the crap out of it with my fork.

I had my sleeve surgery on Monday, so I'm just getting started on this journey. Thanks for the input!

The surgeon gave us a book with a few ideas in it. One of them was to purée scrambled eggs with heavy cream. Are scrambled eggs okay to eat (in your humble opinions) without pureeing them? That recipe just makes me want to gag! Lol

I was allowed scrambled eggs from Day 1. I whipped up the egg with some milk - it will make them softer. I didn't puree it because the thought of that makes me want to gag. I just chewed - they are really soft anyway.

Cottage cheese and greek yogurt were mainstays of my pureed food stage. Also I got the canned cornedbeef hash and made sure to chew it really well. It has a ton of salt, but in small portions and to change the flavor profile of my food it was heaven!

Thanks, MC. That's what I was thinking. They're scrambled eggs - why do they need to be puréed?!?! Then I was thinking of hard boiling an egg and doing like an egg salad type of thing.

Hey Giltter glad to hear your doing ok. The 1st night after surgery was horrible and Tues I slept and walked. I'm still sore and this gas I want gone. Stomach is bloated but it will all go away. JC said at a week was when she felt good and walking 2 miles. I am walking and sipping. Im looking forward to Tues when I can go on solid foods. No puree. So Jello, tea, & Water are my main diet till Tues. Gas is slowly moving out. At least we're on the mend now.

chicken Liver Pate

Ingredients:

1 Onion

2 Carrots

2 Tubs chicken Liver

4 Strips of Goodshall’s Turkey Bacon (cooked)

1 Cup Chicken broth (only use what’s needed)

Salt, Pepper, Garlic powder (to taste)

Directions:

Dice onion, combine it with two shredded carrots and saute them until onion is golden brown. Pan cook the bacon while the veggies are being sautéed. Take the onion and carrots out and use the same pan to saute about two tubs of chicken liver, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder while cooking. Once they are cooked, put the liver, the onions and the carrots into the food processor with the bacon. Then blend until it’s a creamy consistency. If it's too dry, add some of the chicken broth and blend again. Repeat until it’s the creamy consistency that you want. Put in small containers, freeze some and refrigerate some. Enjoy!

Serving Size: 4 oz. Total Grams of Protein/Serving: 19 grams

I am 8 weeks out and never had to do puréed Protein. I am on " soft proteins". My NUT defined this as protein that I could chew well and mash up before swallowing. If I couldn't do that then a blender was recommended.

Early in this stage I ate cottage cheese, refried Beans with cheese, scrambled eggs, deviled eggs, soft boiled eggs, yogurt, chicken thighs, tilapia or any soft white fish. As I progressed I was able to eat scallops and more dense fish like salmon. I have progressed to ground beef, turkey chili, pulled pork, nuts etc. Next week I am moving to stage 5, the final step, adding vegetables and fruit, and I will try to eat a piece of beef tenderloin.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
