Having my GS surgery in March

Recommended Posts

After careful consideration I have decided to have a Gastric Sleeve Surgery. My date is March 19 and I would like to connect with people who already had their surgery and people having their surgery in March. Thank you all for your support. Many blessings to all.

I am scheduled for March 19th also! Starting my pre op on March 5th, not looking forward to that too much. Have already been watching my intake and starting exercising the first of the year to help get me prepared which has led me to drop 15 lbs since then. I've lost 22 since I took the first big step of scheduling my seminar and getting the process started 5 months ago. Excited to have started losing but sure seems like I should have lost more with all I've cut from my diet and the activity I've added in. Oh well...story of my life so far, but not for long!

I'm on 3-11! I was going to have it done back in December, but I wasn't ready. I've had a lot of time now to carefully think and prepare. Welcome and good luck to all of us!

I'm scheduled for 3/3!! I seriously am starting to freak. I'm just sooo ready for the surgery to be over and the pain if any to be gone. I'm on day 4 of the liquid diet and I am seriously head hungry. I keep passing my favorite places to eat and thinking "man, I hope this is worth it." 20lbs down already here's to hoping healthy by this time next year!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
