Swhitton85 66 Posted March 31, 2014 Thank you teacherlady! My surgeon is really nice. Very good bedside manor and I trust him. My surgery is at a center of excellence and I have several customers from my job who did their surgery thru him and they look amazing with no complications. I lost my mom two years ago to a car accident just 2 weeks after I had my daughter. She was the first and really the only experience I ever had dealing with death. And let me tell you I did not deal with it well. Ever since losing her, the thought of dying is a constant fear of mine. I have an amazing support team, and this far everyone I've told has been very supportive of my decision. My mom had her first heart attack before she was 45 and my dad most recently had a massive one on March 1 of this year. Diabetes, high blood pressure, you name it my family had it. So I decided to take hold of my own health before it gets worse. I've always been very heavy my entire life, but this last year I developed type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. They also put me on a Water pill because of swelling from water weight. At just 30 years old I should not have this many issues. I can't wait for the day when I can finally keep up with my 2 year old. Sad to say her great grand mother at 70 something years old can move around and play on the floor with her better than I can =/. Just a little over 2 weeks to go for me. Congrats on ur surgery date and good luck with ur journey! It's great ur going to make this life change. I have slightly high blood pressure & can't wait to get off my medicine! Ur daughter will enjoy being able to play more with her mom. The next 2 weeks will fly by! Good luck to u also & everyone else's upcoming surgeries. The ones b4 April 8th I would love to hear from u before mine so I know more of what to expect right after waking up from surgery! 1 Proudmomma83 reacted to this

Swhitton85 66 Posted March 31, 2014 Thanks holly! I will def be on here updating u all with my progress. Jeanette where r u from? Sounds like ur pre op diet is a lot harder then the one my dr wants me on. Mine is just lean meats, fruits & veggies. No carbs! So it's a lot easier to do. Hopefully This week goes by fast for u. It seems like forever I'm sure when the pre op diet is a lot stricter! Good luck to u )

Janette0911 0 Posted March 31, 2014 I am in Florida. My surgery will be in Gainesville . It is strange why some allow food and some don't.

claw0416 6 Posted March 31, 2014 I'm scheduled for surgery April 17th and recently had my EGD done at the hospital where my surgery will be performed. As I was being hooked up to the heart monitors and the IVs and everything else they had going on I started to panic and question myself if I was making the right decision. I started to freak out about...If this was any indication of what I would be going thru the day of surgery I was scared sh**less...all I could think about was what if I didn't make it? What would happen to my little girl...that was until I heard the anesthesiologist tell the nurses that I was "rather large" and she was going to stick around. Quickly snapped me back into why I was doing this in the first place. My doc requires a 1 week pre-op diet but I'm going to give it two. The more weight I lose before the better =) Funny that you say you heard them talk about how large you are and it snapped you back! That is what happened to me this past week. The closer I get to the 15th the more I panic, well I went in for a MRI and the nurse had to take me aside and tell me I was too large in my stomach to do the machine. Which really put things I to perspective. I have to go through with this! Still pisses me off that my dr did not do the open MRI considering my weight. And now we have to go back through the trouble of rescheduling somewhere else. All I can do is remind myself this time next year I won't have these problems. Good luck on your surgery
HollyJ2621 19 Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) Claw0416. Good luck to you as well! We're so close!' Something similar happened to me when I went to do my upper GI. They had me stand in between these two things to do the test but it was a tight fit and then told me to turn to the side but I couldnt turn completely. On my report it said test modified due to body habitus being to large. I was so upset. I was like but my doctor specializes in bariatrics and all my info was sent over prior to... So not sure why it was not taken into consideration. Just makes you want this that much more to know we will never have to hear or read those things again. But I keep reminding myself I'm doing this not just for me but mainly for him, to be a better mom, to be able to run around with him, to be healthy for him to be around as long as I can. I keep praying it all goes well! 1 Sleeve4me! reacted to this
HollyJ2621 19 Posted March 31, 2014 Proudmomma83...most days I'm do ok, but then I have really bad days when I feel like I'm making the wrong decision. There's always that one WHAT IF? what if I'm that one statistic? Fortunately my daughters father and I are still together and she will have him.... But I'm selfish and I want to be there for all those big milestones in her life... I just keep trying to remind myself I'm going this to be a better mom for her and putting my trust in my surgeon. May I ask what you didn't like about the vsg? I'm sorry, I missed typed... I had the VBG in 2009 and had it removed in 2011. Complications from my existing staple line is why I am now having the bypass.
