Twoterville and feeling fine

Recommended Posts

I am so excited that I just had to share!!! I am out of the 300s and into the 200s!!! I am 8 weeks post of, and know that I have a long way to go, but I am so proud of all that I have accomplished so far.

I go to see my surgeon tomorrow. I was wondering if I would get a fill, but I am staying satisfied for 4 hours after each meal. I feel like what I am doing now is working, so I don't want to mess with success. The doctor knows what is best, so I will follow his suggestions.

Thanks for letting me toot my own horn for a few minutes!!! You all are so inspirational to me and always make me feel like part of a community. I lurk more than post, but this board is truly one of the main reasons I am doing so well.

Toot all you want! What a great job you are doing....feels awesome doesnt it! I agree with you about the fills. I have yet to have had one and often wonder if I should or shouldn't....as you said why mess with something when what you are doing is working!!!! So I say "no, thanks" at my monthly appts and leave a happy and contented girl.

I am 2, YES 2, pounds away from one-derland...and I can't wait to see that number on the scale!

Keep up the good work....this site is awesome with some AMAZING people on here!

Keep us posted!

Congratulations, you're rocking this!! Talk with your surgeon and listen to your own instincts. Last time I went in, I wanted a fill, he didn't want to, after discussing it he won and changed my mind... and I'm very glad he did. For the same reason, don't fix something that's not broke! Good luck in the rest of your journey! =D

I, too, remember that feeling of excitement when the first digit read "2." Now, I'm looking forward to the first digit reading "1." It may be 5+ months from now, but I'm sure it will happen..... Congrats, and welcome to TWOTERVILLE!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
