You both are doing really good with your weight loss. I'm so glad I had a chance to talk to you guys about the fills. I'm not quite as nervous about getting my first fill now.

Hi Nannyjh,

Are you restricted to much or just right ? Is this normal for you, or do you think the second fill just worked better ?

I can't hardly wait for my first fill. I was doing a lot of yard work yesterday and forgot to eat all day. For dinner I eat a six inch tuna from subway. I never eat that much at one time....but I did last night.

I wonder how Simmons is doing with her second fill ?

I wonder if I should go on a liquid diet for a few days just in case.

I would just tell the doctor about you don't feel restricted . I think I had a good fill this time and now its doing what it is to . I don't know about Simmons . Hope she gets as good results as I do . As I know she has the same in hers now as I do .

Hey nannyjh and crazycat! Well nannyjh, I wish I could say the same for myself, but I really can't tell the difference with 1.3 vs 2.0 ccs of restriction. I'm not sure if I'm not restricted enough or the fact that I got my period the day after my fill and I get ravenous each and every time that I get it. :) I haven't lost anymore weight.:) Still stuck. I'm so happy for you that you aren't hungry. I hope it works for me soon. :phanvan I'll keep you posted!:help:

Hi!! I am new to this site. I am SERIUOSLY thinking about doing a Lap Band procedure. I am wondering who the doctors are arond this area that do it. I have found out that my insurance will cover it if I jump through a few hoops. I am to the point that I would jump through those hoops even if they were on fire. Could any of you point me in the right direction...I've read a few of your posts but I'm wondering if you know of ANY other docs around our area (Champaign).

Thanks so very much!!!!!!

Amy

I'm assuming these are the only 2 in our are then? I did some research and have only found these two gentlemen myself. I am hoping they aren't only the ONLY ones but the BEST ones. Thanks so much.

Congrats on the lose. I am so frustrated right now with my weight. I weigh more now then I did the day my 4th son was born. ARGH. I have been trying to watch what I eat and I have been working out 5 to 6 days a week FAITHFULLY for the last 5 months. I've lost 6 lbs. I would really like to see more of a result. My Mom, sis and my bro are all overweight. I just think some of my weight is in my genes. How frustrating...

Hi Wrkmnx6,

From what I understand Dr.Tull has had the band surgery himself.I have heard that they are both good doctors. I myself had my surgery in Mexico by Dr.Ortiz. I am going to Dr. Rohrscheib in Clinton for my first fill tomorrow; then after that I will going to his office in Champain. Hope this info helps.

Hey fellow champaign lapbanders. I have been banded since august 2006. Glad to see some locals. I am from the champaign area. Dr R is great! I haven't had any problems with any of my fills. I have never had a fluro. I have 3.2 cc.s in a 4 cc. band. there are different size bands. some have a 10 cc band so it would take longer for them to feel a difference once they have had their fills. Would be great to meet everyone. We should start a support group.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
