Survey - Carbonated Drinks? Do u drink them?

Recommended Posts

None since surgery 10 weeks ago. I was advised by my nut to stay away from carbonated drinks. It may lots of bloating , post surgery. I don't miss it.. We're u told one way or the other. I read on this website that some do drink carbonated drinks and it does not bother them.

I am almost 2 months out and I'll have a sip or two of a diet coke.. Prob shouldn't but it doesn't seem to be hurting anything! Also prob about 3 weeks after surgery I started drinking the sparkling flavored water. The carbonation has not

Affected me!

No I haven't because our NUT warned us that they will stretch the sleeve.

I waited till 2 years post op....at goal for awhile... I had a vodka and soda Water....teehee.

In truth soda pop, diet or not is TERRIBLE for you. I strongly encourage anyone to just break the habit. Eating clean, real foods is just such a good thing.

Signed,

Former Diet Pepsi junkie (and it never made me skinny)

We got rid of the addiction to Diet Coke a total of 5 months now and will never go back to them, Do not miss them one bit!!! I do not want my new flat stomach to feel bloated with fat or carbonation again so it motivates me. Plus the drill we got about it not being good for the sleeve. I had been reading for years how awful diet sodas were terrible for us. So glad I do not even want one anymore.

Nope, gave them up last year and not missing them one bit. In fact the thought of drinking of them is a real turn off.

I'm 3 months post op, and I haven't tried anything carbonated yet. One of these days I'll give in and try some Barq's Diet Root Beer... but not yet.

Not far out, but not planning to go back to the carbonation. The stretch factor freaks me out too much. And that's saying something considering the diet colas I've darn near lived on in the past

That said it's easy for me to say this early out.

I was a HUGE diet pepai drinker pre op. like 3-4 cans a day addicted. I stopped a few months before surgery and stayed away for several months after surgery. I began again 6 or so months post op. I got addicted again (yea it is an addiction) and was drinking it every day. Cut it out again about 2 months ago. I'm over a year post op. I was totally fine drinking it by the way, no pain or anything. And I still don't think an occasional one would be bad, but as far as me I know I'm a diet pepsi addict so I need to limit it as much as possible.

I'm 2 months post opt and I haven't had a soda except at a baby shower and even that sip was accidental. (My friend made punch in a big bowl and I didnt realize it was ginger ale as a base). Immediately after that sip I put it down.

Occasionally I get a twinge for something other than Water, so I'll have a half cup of fruit juice and/or milk. I try to mainly drink lemon Water though.

I've heard soda stretches your pouch and even though I am by no means a purist, having broken my addiction to them, I can't imagine going back. I don't plan to drink another soda the rest of my life. (unless science creates a bionic stomach in which case I'd love a transplant and could eat whatever i wanted. lol)

Almost 11 months out and no carbonation for me. I was never a huge soda drinker anyway. However I want a beer like mad but I am staying away...

I used to LOVE coke zero, I have been clean for over 5 months...I'm 4 months post op. It helped me that I started weaning a few months before surgery though...

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
