I'm three weeks out and can gulp Water..I can drink fast with no problem. However, if I eat too much I feel the pouch tighten.

I thought being able to drink normally was a good thing...I may be wrong.

Also some Bypassers Water load.

Xx

I'm two years out and still can't gulp Water (or anything else for that matter). Two nights ago I was just about to go to bed and was quite thirsty. Drank too much too fast - most uncomfortable.

I think you mean your pouch not stoma. The stoma is the opening between your pouch and your intestines. Your pouch is supposed to increase in size over time but I am not sure how much. My plan said to be able to eat 1-1 1/2 cups per meal when the pouch is a mature size, so an orange sounds reasonable. I have not had a scope since pre op so I have no clue what size mine is.

Water or any Fluid will not stretch your pouch. There is an opening that it can flow out of easily.

The stoma can be stretched just like the pouch can. And I asked my surgeon specifically if the pouch can be stretched with liquids as well as solids. Her reply - "Absolutely". I have never seen any statistical information or clinical studies which offer any insight on how far out patients usually are when they are diagnosed with a stretched stoma. I suspect that the timeline could be quite varied on an individual basis.

Orama1985 - there are options for repairing a stretched stoma with varying success rates. Did your surgeon offer any suggestions? And have you considered getting a second opinion? In your situation, I think I would seek a second opinion even if you ultimately decide to stick with the surgeon that did your bypass.

Congratulations on your weight loss so far! We all wish you great success in finding a speedy solution to the current challenge!

I recently accidentally swallowed a seed. I was so afraid it might get stuck but I swallow pills bigger than the seed. How would I know if something were stuck in the stoma or pouch? Does anyone know? Will it be digested or pass through? I called my doctor's nurse but no response yet .

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
