Oh My God...Are You Kidding Me?!?!

Recommended Posts

Yesterday when released from the Hospital, I was given a Script for "Pre-natal Vitamins" (chewable) So my Son dropped off the Script for me, then called me and said, they had to order them, and they would have them in the Morning, no problem. So I call CVS this Morning, asked if they had my Script, "yes we do you can come anytime to pick it up" Great. So I go pick it up, come home open it, and Chew away...Holy Mother of God!!! They gave me the Wrong Ones!!! Not the Chewables...Do you have any idea what these things taste like? Well let me tell you, they taste like Old Rotten Dead Fish...So now I have this taste in my mouth, nose, every time I Burp, there it is!!! Well I wasn't Puking to bad before this, but I'm Puking at a pretty good clip now. And the taste isn't going away! Probably some intern at CVS filled it. I called and just Snapped on the Pharmacist. I mean he was very apologetic, but the fact remains the same, I got the Wrong S!#T, and my Breath smells like a Bag of Old Fish Scales!!!

HACK!

Lemons. That's the trick for fish.

I see you are in St. Pete. I'm close but going to Denver. My insurance wouldn't pay.

Best to you. Keep us posted on your progress.

Sorry, but that made me laugh REALLY LOUD.

I feel your pain. I buy liquid Vitamins from costco and I am no wimp, but this stuff tastes like liquid ROTTEN FISH.

I just about gag at every swallow. But it is a necessary evil and I'll stop laughing now and give you a hug. ((()))

And congrats on your surgery.

Ewwww, that must have been seriously nasty. Personally, I find the Flintstones chewables work good for me.

Oh my goodness Rockn4u....you had a bad experience that's for sure. I too prefer the Viactiv Multiple Vitamins...they are like chocolate caramels...(my last purchase which was yesterday I opted to try Chocolate Cherry flavor woo-hoooooo)and they leave no after taste. But like Jack said...when you begin burning fat look out for ketosis which is your body's way of alerting you that "It's workin' Baby" by sending you a horrible taste in your mouth.

Good luck and take your Vitamins darlin', whatever choice you make! Dreamer

Obviously there is FISH OIL in your vitamins!! (for the Omega 3's).... generally fish oil is tres nasty. I got some liquid vitamins at Sam's...quite good. If you want to take fish oil (which is very good for you) order Coromega online. No fishy aftertaste! :) Tastes like orange sherbert. I wouldn't steer you wrong. Honest Injun.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
