Hi all,

I had my surgery on Dec 30, 2013. I am in my 7th week this past Monday, and I've lost 37 lbs. I feel that I'm behind. I feel great though! I used to experience pains throughout my entire body, and now, not so much! It's a miracle. It's amazing what a difference that dropping a few pounds can make. I thank God for the opportunity to have this procedure done because my insurance didn't cover this procedure for a long time. Then, I kept praying and my husband's company was purchased by another company that provided insurance that covered bariatrics. Ohh, the power of prayer! I have a very supportive husband and family. In fact, my hubby has dropped 30 lbs himself because he has changed his lifestyle as well. My hubby is a large guy also, and he has started the process of seeing my surgeon for the procedure. He may be able to lose the weight on his own with the way that he's been losing thus far. I needed the procedure because I surely would return to my way old habits if that restriction was not in place. I'm looking forward to chatting with some of you because I would love to hear about your journeys. I get discouraged sometimes because right now, I feel that maybe I should be losing more weight, or that I may not be doing enough.

Thanks Rickie. How did you get the body ticker ruler on your page. Rickie, do you exercise everyday? You have lost 48 lbs in less than a month! What are you doing girl?

Its a bit deceiving the way they post that... I have only lost 20 lbs since surgery, the rest was pre surgery weight loss. I was put on the pre surgery diet about 6 weeks before surgery.

I do exercise everyday, I try to go to the gym but can't always make it. yesterday I walked around Meijers for 2 hours for no reason just to exercise lol they probably thought I was casing the place!

I made the ticker, up at the top of the page where it says hello your name click that and when the menu comes up click on tickers.

Welcome, and congratulations on the start of this new journey! Im a slow loser as well. Hang in there, we'll get there! Someone mentioned that slow losers are more likely to keep the weight off. I like that thought!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
