hadouni 301 Posted February 18, 2014 I have a decent treadmill that I've used for a couple years now. Sometimes when I walk, and more often when I try and jog, I feel it slip just a little if I step down real hard. It feels like the band slips backward and it's just enough to scare me and imagine my knee going out from under me. The band doesn't seem loose and there is no separtation in the seam of the band. Has anyone else experienced this? I'd love to hear some thoughts from more experienced treadmillers! I can't give it up because it's the only outlet I have most days since I have a young child. Thanks!
JeanZ_RN 378 Posted February 18, 2014 I just Googled "treadmill band slips" and there are lots of articles / videos. I have no personal knowledge, so you're on your own regarding which ones will be helpful.
Dee_1111 317 Posted February 19, 2014 Oh good info to know..I'm a treadmill junkie..I walk..didn't know that could happen..I am actually thinking about getting one to take up ALOT of space down in my hubs 'man cave'..lol..I've been looking and researching them. I live in Northern Minnesota, so its not always wise to travel on the roads in winter around here. This winter in particular was brutally cold and snowy, so it was difficult at times to get the gym (which is 20 miles from my home)..so do let one know why that prob would accure?..thanx
wcn1970 239 Posted February 19, 2014 The belt has a tensioner. If you look up your model you should easily find how to tighten it. Need to be checked yearly I would guess. 2 hadouni and Dee_1111 reacted to this
B-52 7,113 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) There is a website that will trouble shoot treadmill problems....I have had one for quite some time, it is a very expensive one....I need to change the belt about every 2 years, and the drive belts on the motor about every 2 years.... It's not easy to do....and there are service people who will come to your home and do it....they can also check out all the electronics, and the motor strength......calibrate everything... Also, more simple, there is an adjustment to tighten the belt....it will stretch over time and slip, before it actually wears out... The first treadmill I ever owned was a inexpensive, cheap one...when it came time to be serviced, and I realized how involved it was and what the $$ would be, I put it out at the curb.... I now have the same treadmill and elliptical in my house, that they have at my gym....there are outlet stores throughout the country, and they sell "refurbished" used equipment, with full service warranties....as an example, I paid 3 thousand for my elliptical...used and refurbished, and that was over 1/2 the price of a new one.... hadouni 301 Posted February 20, 2014 Thank you all so much! I think if I invest in another piece of equipment it might be an elliptical. It is going on two years, so tightening things up is probably a good idea.
