Bucket List..What's been added since WLS?

Recommended Posts

So my bucket list was pretty boring and simple before I even thought I would be able to lose weight! I hoped for common things like:

  1. Getting out of debut
  2. Advance in my career
  3. get my dream car
  4. blah
  5. blah
  6. blah

But now that I have started dropping some lbs I feel inspired and I now dream of doing sooo much more like:

  1. Finally learn to swim (i was never comfortable enough to wear a bathing suit or want someone to have to carry my fat behind out of the Water if I drowned)
  2. I want to take a pole dancing class
  3. Travel overseas (not seat belt extension)
  4. run a marathon
  5. ride a rollercoaster (before I could never fit into the seats of the seat belts were too small)

My list goes on and on with each passing day

So what are you dying to do before you die now that you have started or completed your weight loss journey?

Good question!!! I'm now designing a life which more closely reflects my personal values and desires. That's my whole bucket list I guess.

The first thing on my bucket list was kicking the bucket down the road. Got that done, should have been dead years ago, prostate cancer. Losing the fat helps.

I now ride the roller coasters, buy clothes without trying them on, unabashedly go shirtless, run, laugh, smile, enjoy living.

The rest requires money to do but I have already covered the important stuff.

World travel, buying wife a great home, cruises, giving larger to charities.

I would like to add go camping in the Adirondacks! A lot of my friends have been before but I know you need to have a certain level of fitness to be able to hike through the mountains.

Welcome, Jed121!

Being nervous about the operation just means you are human and realize what it is. I was nervous, too. I calculated the risks, both immediate and long term. Getting the operation won out over continued obesity and poor health.

I calculated correctly. If I had stayed the way I was I would not likely be here to type this message.

You must decide for yourself. Research helps doubts. All my best to you!

It's funny. I woke up this morning thinking about what I will be able to do once I unload this weight. I have just started my journey. I had my first Dr. appt yesterday. Lots of tests scheduled. I'm done with the first month of supervised diet but I'm not following it right now. That is about to change. I'm starting to take this seriously. My head is slow to react, but it's getting on board.

Some of the things I am planning to do once the lbs are gone:

Dance!

hike

ride my bike

go to festivals

resume doing seminars

climb a ladder and do stuff

lots more ...

Above all, I will be able to take control and be who I am supposed to be. No more excuses. I'll be free!!!

Have budoir photos taken for my hubby

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
